Aaron Gies for Congress
@aarongies
Professor | Small Town Cheerleader | Democracy Advocate, Candidate for Congress in NY23 Support:
When I ran into Congressman Langworthy, I asked a simple question: Can we have more debates? The people of NY-23 deserve opportunities to hear directly from both candidates, ask questions, compare ideas, and make their own decisions. If you agree, share this poster!
We've got one debate. Why push for four more? 1. Voters deserve to see us in person and ask their questions directly. 2. People from all over the district deserve the opportunity to come to a debate. Would you like to see Nick Langworthy and I debate with an audience who could ask questions?
My Primary opponent called me MAGA. Nick Langworthy calls me a Commie. Those lies expose a truth: they can't imagine a politics based on treating other people the way you want to be treated. I'm for the Common Good. We can do so much better.

My opponent is Big Mad at Canada today because of wildfire smoke. The Canadians are our neighbors, not our enemies. We have a common problem. It’s not Canada; it’s climate change. It’s time to stop the bluster and finger-pointing and work together to solve it.
NY State has become the first-in-the nation to pause new data center construction statewide! Rural New York is our home. We will not allow it to become a dumping ground for polluting infrastructure pushed on us by billionaires.
Data center noise is not just annoying. It actually prevents people and animals from sleeping. I’m calling on Gov. Hochul to sign the NY data center moratorium NOW! We need sane standards to protect WNY communities.
Thanks to Mary and Bryan at Erba Verde Farms in East Aurora for showing me around their cutting-edge operation! Beef, pork, chicken AND dairy. I got some of each, plus some jam!😋 To save family farms, we need a Representative in Congress who will listen to small farmers, not just DC lobbyists.
I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend, and a little extra time for what matters most.
What's it take for FOX NEWS to call you "far-left"? Support for small business? Farmers? Public schools? Investing in rural infrastructure? Or is it fighting to stop them from shutting down our hospitals? So extreme! 🤣
We won…by a LOT! Thank you to everyone who came to an event, volunteered, donated and most of all VOTED. I’m proud to be your Democratic and Working Families nominee.
I voted for myself! Weird feeling, but good. Make sure you vote today! Polls are open till 9pm.
Happy Father's Day! When I was ten, I loved model trains. My Dad would come home after a hard day of hanging wallpaper or pounding nails and work on a train layout with me in our sweltering attic. I'm striving to be that kind of Dad -- that kind of person -- every day.
Trump is trying to rig our Primary! Sowing doubt, division and chaos—the solution is overwhelming numbers! Early voting is happening NOW! Let’s make our voices so loud there can be no mistake: democracy is alive and well in NY23!
It's National Dairy Month. Dairy farms are as much a fixture of WNY life as Bills football. Family farms urgently need relief from tariffs, fuel prices, labor shortages and corporate consolidation. I'll support policies that help us lower costs and invest in each other. That's the common good.
We are full steam ahead to June 23rd! Early voting is less than a week away and we’re traveling all over the district talking with voters. We have several more events coming up before the primary! Please vote. Please tell your friends to vote. If they haven’t met me, invite them to an event.
What's the common good? Every family deserves a doctor. A good life should be affordable. Corruption is bipartisan: we need new laws to stop it. I'm running for YOU. Washington has enough lawyers and executives. Early voting starts June 13 and Election Day is June 23rd. Don't forget to vote!
"ENDORSEMENT ALERT! I'm proud to announce that the NY College Democrats, along with the College Dems of St. Bonaventure, have endorsed me! This campaign is about investing in each other and building a future where the government is accountable to US. Thank you NY College Dems, and Go Bonas!"
ENDORSEMENT ALERT! We’ve just been endorsed by Communication Workers of America! Representing telecom, printing, higher education, healthcare and other workers, CWA counts thousands of members in NY23. I’m grateful for their support and proud to stand in solidarity with them.
This reconciliation bill is crazy. Gold ballrooms and strip mall prison camps are not important. Making a good life affordable is! There is an important primary on June 23. Early voting starts June 13! Vote for me and let’s put the common good back at the center of our politics.
Congratulations to our niece Kaydance, my students at St. Bonaventure, and all graduates! They navigated COVID, AI impacts, and now bring resilience into the world, giving us hope. We owe it to them to end this war, halt tariffs, fix healthcare, and get our economy moving again!
Our campaign to reclaim the common good is continuing to gain momentum. I'm grateful for the organizations that have endorsed me & share the commitment to making a good life affordable for everyone. These groups show up when their communities need them to & I will proudly show up with them, for you.
Today we remember the Black Buffalonians killed in the Tops shooting. White supremacist "Great Replacement" lies don’t belong in our politics. My success doesn't depend on my neighbor's failure. It depends on their success. We can differ and still pursue the common good together — peacefully.
We're on tour! I just finished up a great stop at a Community Candidate Forum hosted by Elmira's HOPE Alliance. Next up is Painted Post and Fredonia! Stay up-to-date for tour stops near you at aaronforny23.com#events
On Mother’s Day, I’m thankful for an unexpected trip to McDonald’s in 1991. Money was tight, but Mom had an “extra” $20, so my brother and I got a treat. I learned later the twenty was a birthday gift from Grandma. More than fries, Mom gave us a happy childhood. Thanks, Mom. I love you.
Great time today canvassing with Karen Hoak for NYS Assembly and the Hamburg Dems. Early voting for the Democratic primary starts June 13th! Also stopped by the Hamburg circle protest and Do Something Southtowns! We love these pro-democracy, pro-community folks standing up for the common good.
Nurses Week is a chance to stop and think about the people who are there when it matters most. In NY-23, that often means long shifts, a lot of pressure, and walking into units that are already stretched thin.
It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Every one of us can name a teacher who made a difference. (Thanks, Mrs. Hoots). In NY-23, they’re showing up every day in crowded classrooms, working with limited resources, and dealing with the same rising costs everyone else is.
