everything i said yesterday applies to this tattoo too. ankylosaurs are one of my fave dino & i understand that they’re maybe less iconic than trike or stego or theropods but i think they’re slept on. is this bc i love turtles? maybe. they’re also nothing like turtles. but it’s the closest emoji 🐢
can’t believe the only dino emojis are 🦕 and 🦖 — i feel like stegosaurs & ceratopsians are super identifiable as “dinosaur” and yet they got shafted. we got before a trike? get real. anyway here’s a styracosaurus tattoo
ours as well! i love the regional variance on these guys. this is last year’s but i’m sure i’ll see them again soon…
finished my first backpiece the other day! forgot to post about it because of emergency surgery 💦 but i’m so excited to be done with this piece, it took about 11 sessions ranging from 3-8 hours each.
gonna tell my kids this is the infinity gauntlet & infinity stones or whatever. anyway, i’m fine, i was not in mortal danger, or even pain, just bleeding a lot. surgery took like 30 minutes, prep literally took 4x the time. i was then trapped in the ER for almost 24 hours but im free now holy shit.
hey guess who had to go to the ER and beg them to take him seriously multiple times for excessive bleeding from a surgical site, bc they said it’s a a low triage case, just for them to finally see him when he mentioned bleeding for 4 hours straight and immediately schedule emergency surgery at 1AM
i recently found out that hibiscus dasycalyx (and other hibiscus spp.) are largely pollinated by hibiscus turret bees fighting over turf inside— their brawling is the most effective pollination! so i’m gonna say these dudes (recently found in my garden 💝)
i learn how to speak forgotten language i fall in the sea but forget how to swim
this is from a few weeks ago + the rough colour study (it’s changed a bit but mostly in bg colours)
got some good colour in on this starbird sleeve, the rest is still healing grey lines/shading from about 12 days ago :3
i didn’t even share my art show panels or anything… ugh. i’m so bad at social media lately. i ended up only taking one piece home, my gouache oyster, caraquet! thank u all for the support, as always
me today post con: i love u all and my stamina is not where it was last year at ac and im sorry 🫶 i appreciate everything everyone says to me and im sorry i am vaguely lobotomised from fatigue and heat intolerance
all set up at anthrocon, tables C05 & C06, across from the tattoo booths! come buy stuff from me 🫶
the full thing so far :) gonna do more shading next time… then the real fun begins!
some watercolour sunflowers from before my break… i like adding a good foundation of black & grey under watercolour stuff so that if all the colour fades away it’s still recognizable, but also understanding that the watercolour look softens over time!
scanning in some of my tattoo stencils today... here's a fun look at a sketch to completed liner of a tattoo drawn to fit as an underbust! it was a pretty complicated fit to get right so i traced my client's body after drawing on her!
impatient for both healing & for my damn plants to flower already :/ my soil was dogshit & my plants are still establishing, in addition to odd weather, so i shouldn’t be surprised my stuff is late to bloom and still small, but i still want to see everything!!! cmon!!! hurry up!!!!
and now it turns out, death’s not the end she was a bone, we sharpened our teeth the world owes more than they’ll pay in the wind i heard them say... oh, henrietta, we can live on forever print available on the online store or in person at unkindness art! shop.unkindnessart.com/products/the...
my surgeon also did a great job of hiding my incisions, it’s almost hard to check on them to make sure they’re healing well lmao
had surgery yesterday— was quite successful & yesterday was deeply painful largely due to gas (they inflate you for laparoscopic surgery) but today has been pretty manageable! definitely laid up for at least the rest of the week but already the worst pain is equivalent to the pain i was in pre-op
gonna redraw on the lace on the inner arm next time— wasn’t crazy with how it was laying out & we had enough lines to get through, so next time i’m drawing it on & we should be getting into shading
