I just went to the National Museum of Taiwan History and they had a special board game exhibit this month! I took 29 pictures of different games (hoping to make a video when I get back), but here’s one in the western games section of Monopoly!
Did the wooden puzzle today while editing. It was a fun puzzle! Lots of neat whimsy pieces and it’s very pretty to look at!
Woo hoo got my latest @postcurious.bsky.social Kickstarter delivery! I wasn’t expecting the box of Emerald Echoes to be this thick! I think I need to slow down on backing puzzles and puzzle games though cause I have a big backlog that I haven’t started 😆
This is as good as I’m gonna get it… turns out the Rumi braid is hard to do to your own hair when all you normally know how to do is just brush your hair and you don’t have any hair spray. And also it doesn’t work too well with hair that’s cut in layers.
I almost never do anything with my hair other than brush it, so it’s kinda a big thing that I’m trying something new with my hair styles for my upcoming music video! This is the first of 3… can you guess who I’m going for? (It’ll make more sense when it goes with music)
And here are all the board games I played in January! 30 plays, 19 games. Highlights were escape room games with kids, CoraQuest with kids, and Jisogi (with adults)!
Do I have enough tracks yet? 😅 I might record more later, but it's probably good enough.
Lots of great games in this year’s Thinky Awards! And I also got nominated for Best Content Creator! Yay! Thank you to whoever nominated me! It’s amazing being next to all these great puzzle content creators!
I’m getting pretty decent at saving the blobs with a toothpick but I still haven’t been able to do the “simple leaf” design from pouring it. Today I didn’t have enough milk and waited too long before trying for the design.
My first time steaming the milk myself! I put some hot chocolate powder so it’s a mocha latte cause I don’t like coffee 😆 I think I pour too slowly cause there was too much foam at the end and it turned into a blob again. So I made a happy face.
My first attempt at latte art with our new espresso machine! Toby made the espresso and steamed the milk, I just poured. I’m excited it actually made a definite shape! It turned out like a blob so I just used a toothpick to turn it into a skull.
CA state puzzle competition was super fun this year! And I got a bunch of new puzzles! I took home 4 of the puzzles we did (one of them I actually got at the swap since my partner took our copy home). I also got a bunch from the swap table, and bought a couple advent calendars from Boardwalk!
Finished! Teams was a tough Wicked puzzle from Ravensburger. But we managed to finish and I think we got 22nd place!
Pairs was a new puzzle from Boardwalk! I think we got 46th place! I like their new ribbon cut puzzles, and it has a nice matte finish! This was my fist time doing pairs with another adult (and therefore my first time finishing the puzzle in the time limit).
Pairs relay done! You each work on one puzzle at a time and then switch every 5 minutes. I liked the Mickey puzzle a lot better than the underwater one! We got 27 minutes and 40 seconds
Solo puzzle done! I was hoping for under an hour but when I opened it I knew it would be a tougher one. Luckily it was a little easier than I thought since the colors were actually distinct. But the text was hard - usually I do text first but I ended up doing it last!
One of my 6yo’s today at dinner said he wanted to make a board game similar to MicroMacro. So after dinner he started drawing and like 15 minutes later came back with two cases - “who stole the crown?” & “who stole the lantern?” (He also had follow up questions for each after I found the first part)
Got Cat Crimes from Goodwill (in shrink!) and the kids wanted to play it today so they went through 5 levels. Cute logic game! Says ages 8+, but beginner levels were pretty easy and my 6yo’s were able to grasp the logic. I just needed to read it to them. Super excited that they like logic games too!
Here’s my September board game plays from @bgstatsapp.bsky.social ! Every game I played was new to me (review copies and friends bringing over) except one - Bomb Busters.
Also I gotta share my cakes - this is my first year using professional icing bags and tips, and it is sooo much easier and quicker than a ziploc bag with a hole in it! 😂 Requests were Saja Boys and “fancy” cake.
This took way too long for me to fold, but now I’m thinking of making another one (It’s for a bday card for my kid who’s super into kpop demon hunters, and I’m now thinking of doing the same idea for my other kid but with the evil queen from Snow White since that’s his current obsession)
I’ve been 3d printing a lot of useful stuff, but yesterday I had the 3d printer print a bunch of these toys as party favors for my kid’s Saja Boys themed birthday party! It’s amazing how many neat designs people have made!
Today’s the first time I packed lunch for my kids and the first time they’re eating away from us. Which also means it’s the first time in a long time I’m eating lunch by myself and get to pick anything! Woo hoo!
I played Mastermind today and got it in 4! Can you? Black pegs are right color and right position, white are right color and not right position.
We just put together our new 5x5 KALLAX after our move and now I’m trying to put the board games in there by type. My cooperative deduction shelf is full!
