went to a family bbq today and accidentally ended up inside playing a board game with my little cousin, my brother's partner, and @imperatorcasey.bsky.social 😅 (in our defense, it was my cousin's game and she was excited to show it to us! and also it was very cool and fun)

a small card table with a somewhat complicated tabletop game called RAVINE arrayed on it. there are several different types of cards, little wooden tokens engraved with different symbols, and the instructions off to the side. according to the heart tokens, we're all at half health.

we got an ipad a while ago so i could mess with easier ways of making digital art but it turns out i ONLY like to draw on paper, take photos, and airdrop them to my laptop so i can edit them as vectors with my trackpad because that is what works for me 😅

a white tea towel printed with my design that says "my tummy hurts" next to a stomach outline that's full of polyhedral dice. the outlines are all in bright purple, there are little doodled accents in light blue, and the dice are bubblegum pink. my hand is kind of smooshing the towel to show that it's a real physical piece of fabric and not a digital mockup.

my smallish apartment oven that i wiped the crumbs off but didn't clear of bagels, candles, and other nonsense. it's got a white tea towel with the green dice version of the tummy hurts tea towel hanging on the oven handle.

another angle of my oven door, now slightly ajar and with the oven light on, handle now adorned with the black tea towel with the pink dice version of the tummy hurts design. the blue accents really pop on the darker background.

ok here are some super zoomed in crops WHO COULD SAY WHAT THEY ARE??? I'M NOT TELLING!!! they are extremely not done and very much subject to changeeeeeeee byeeee

some thick black outlines with a little bit of goldenrod bits filled in and also some magenta and blue bits too

more black outlines, now with a bit of blue background, and a long squiggle with magenta and minty green, and some circles

mostly black background with some white lines and some rectangularish magnets shapes, and one magenta shape has a jagged edge with three points on it

a very merry Peace On Eath to all from this day 9 years ago (which is obviously a mistake because that says 2017 and as we all know, that's only like 2 or 3 years ago at most)

a screenshot from my "one second every day" app of a photo labeled as being taken "9 years ago" that says "from your library / july 06 2017." it shows a sidewalk with a chalk drawing on it, right down the crack (it didn't have to be, but the child who drew it wasn't thinking ahead goddammit, they had a message to share!!) it's a VERY STRONGLY filled in sun with lots of short rays coming out of it all around, and underneath it says "Peace On Eath" in a big square. the h in Eath is also faded so it kinda looks like Eat. but it is very sweet

it turns out a window unit ac that's meant for one small room does not in fact work on an ENTIRE OPEN PLAN APARTMENT and the people, when they designed our HOME, installed these and went "eh, who cares, it's just gonna be poors living here lol"

it was such a good stump and i'm gonna keep using it until it's completely rotted away into nothing! we were so sad when they cut the tree down but at least we could see all the rot inside it when they did, so it made sense 😩 i just found these photos going back in time to big stump and pre-stump!

lol maintenance kicked them out and listen i don't care about lawns but i don't want it destroyed either!!!! i'd much rather have the beautiful yellow and purple flowers we get out there when they don't mow for like 5 minutes (and also they mow at the hottest part of the day so it just burns!!)

the apartment courtyard lawn, absolutely crisscrossed with tire tracks. also lots of brown patches but that'll happen when it's 90° outside and they insist on mowing at the hottest part of the day when the sun is beaming straight down.

when WE moved in (and also every time we do a market or convention) WE use dollies or our wagon to lug everything down the sidewalk, through the breezeway, and out to the parking lot. but OK I GUESS

a whole-ass u-haul truck and also a mini SUV just parked inside our apartment courtyard. the car is fully out on the grass past the sidewalk and the u-haul is perpendicular and straddling the sidewalk. it's like three feet away from just plowing down our narnia streetlight. there are two middle aged white dudes messing with the back door of the u-haul

celebrated my bday a few days early at my sister's house!

a big ol' plate of watermelon slices, another plate (which is blue and in white lettering on the edges says "This is your day ~~~ CELEBRATE ~~~") full of little individual cookie custard tart things, and another plate full of summer fruits.

ps here is how the linen closet ended up a few hours later

the linen closet, now with a bunch of empty space on the upper shelves and neatly folded towels and sheets instead of the overflowing mess it was before! yay! the vacuum sealed bags are stacked on the floor under the lowest shelf and still somehow take up that whole space but it's definitely better than before. i still truly don't know where TWELVE FULL SIZE BED PILLOWS were hiding in there.

turns out our tiny linen closet was actually a portal to the pillow dimension?????? if you had asked me how many old pillows were in there i would have guessed two, MAYBE three, but i guess the actual answer was ONE THOUSAND

the skinniest closet you've ever seen, still stuffed VERY FULL with folded towels and blankets, with a little bit of empty space on the floor and lowest shelf, but not anywhere near enough empty space for the sheer quantity of pillows in the next photo. hanging on either side of the door are our foamboard cosplay swords from when we were critical rolls: a nat1 and a nat20, one painted to look rusty and covered in mousetraps and one skewered with a gelatinous cube, a mindflayer, and a beholder.

so anyway i finished all the peas we got and we uhhhhhh maybe went back for more but THIS IS IT I SWEAR (listen peas are one of the few things that are simply NO GOOD any other time of the year!! they have like a two week window and that's IT!! even watermelon has like a solid couple months!!)

so at the grocery store today we just wanted to double check this sale bc there are SALES & there are DIGITAL COUPONS & they interact weirdly/differently & the customer service lady was like "oh no these aren't the right ones" & i was like "well there was like a whole display" (here it is btw) --

literally an entire shelf full of medium sized chex mix bags where each one is clearly labeled with a HUGE RED SALE price tag. the regular price is in black text on white ($3.49), the sale price is a bit bigger, in white text on black ($2.99), below it, and then below that, all still on the same huge tag, in a GIANT RED SQUARE, it says 5 for $5.00, and it has a QR code to scan that says "digital coupon." the tags could not be more aligned with the bags of check mix.

i did a stained glass workshop today and in news that i'm sure will shock EVERYONE, i did NOT finish my project in the allotted 4 hours ✨ but the instructor let me go home with a roll of foil and we're gonna set up a time to meet up for me to solder with her 😅 also i cut up ALL of my fingertips 💁🏼‍♀️

the table at my little station at the art studio where the stained glass workshop was held. in front of me are several small pieces of glass in yellows, oranges, and greens. also some markers, glass cutting tools, and a little stack of printouts of the d20 orange from my Diced Fruit enamel pin.

a closeup of my d20 orange with lots of different shades and textures of yellows and oranges for the rind and then dark and medium greens for the leaves. the pieces absolutely do not fit together or line up perfectly but it could probably be a lot worse!! they are all numbered with black sharpie and have arrows pointing upward because they are, notably, not soldered together. exactly one leaf piece has been wrapped in copper foil. this was three hours and fifty minutes into the four hour class and i was exactly zero percent surprised.

we went to a local farm stand for my annual BIRTHDAY PEA EXTRAVAGANZA (buying as many peas as we can reasonably justify) and the teenage girl working there heard me waffling over whether or not we could afford to get another lil pint bucket and she threw it in for free and i burst into tears
