From April 2028 Lancs County Council will cease to exist and West Lancs with South Ribble and Chorley will form a new Unitary Authority. Education, Social Services and Transport will now be led much closer to home. I'm optimistic this will be a catalyst for growth in West Lancs.

From today, rape and sexual assault survivors will have the right to ask for their case to be reviewed before it's dropped. This is a landmark moment for victims and part of Labour’s plan to tackle violence against women and girls.
Update on Dial-a-Ride from West Lancs Borough Council (WLBC). I'm pleased that officers from WLBC and Lancashire County Council are working to identify alternative arrangements and pressing for a sustainable solution. Any further updates I receive, I'll share on here.
It was great to attend Asda’s Tickled Pink event in Parliament, celebrating the campaign’s 30 year anniversary. I’m working with Minister Sharon Hodgson MP to ensure that the National Cancer Plan delivers its goals on metastatic breast cancer.
On Monday, I spoke in Parliament on the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme. I’m pleased that this Labour government has led an extensive consultation with victims and affected families and that changes have been passed in light of this.

I’m thrilled that 7 more primary schools in West Lancashire will be getting government funded free breakfast clubs from September! 🥣 🍌 That brings our total to 15, with all primary schools in our area set to receive one. Breakfast clubs boost parents’ work choices and children’s life choices.

Nobody deserves to be abused. It's fantastic news that this Labour Government has published a draft law that will ban conversion practises in England and Wales. This is a huge step forward for the LGBT+ community in West Lancashire.
