It’s primary election day & a busy day for working people! We made time to vote. And you can too after work 🗳️ You still got time Minnesota! A few 100s of votes will matter tonight. Make your voice heard polls close at 8pm. If you’re in line at 8pm, stay in line. Who to vote for 🧵 👀 below
In collaboration with @aishaforward10.com, @jchavezmpls.bsky.social, @sorenwithward8.bsky.social are hosting a virtual community engagement session regarding our proposed Safe Outdoor Parking policy on 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟔:𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦-𝟖:𝟎𝟎𝐩𝐦 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐙𝐨𝐨𝐦. bit.ly/4c6v7EX
I shared my story on being diagnosed with PTSD and acute stress earlier year during Operation Metro Surge following years of service that entailed violence, tragedy, and required shared community resilience & perseverance.
Honored to be on Angela Davis’ MPR News Show- Wellness Wednesday to have a conversation on Mental Health challenges that can face public officials. Give it a listen: www.mprnews.org/episode/2026...
There are many reasons why I voted no on this "free" pilot, because nothing is free. The same company is currently contracted with ICE, funded through the big ugly bill, and has been used by the Israeli Defense Forces for terrain mapping and surveillance.
At our last Minneapolis council meeting, I voted no on entering into a pilot with Skydio surveillance drones. The motion for the pilot failed 6-6. Opposed: Chowdhury, Chavez, Payne, Wonsley, Stevenson, Osman In favor: Vetaw, Whiting, Rainville, Warren, Shaffer, Palmisano 🧵
Minnehaha Art Fair! 🎨☀️Come through this weekend to Minnehaha Falls Regional Park for local art, beer, food, and performances today and tomorrow! Highly rec - biking, walking, taking transit, or carpooling (spend more time enjoying art than trying to find parking).
There’s always more we can do. We have connected and worked with annunciation community members and family several times this calendar year and I worked on passing a local gun control package with them in May. CMs in 11 & 13 continue to have ongoing check ins.
Big shoutout to Amy & Ben — my amazing staff team. They shared about themselves and the work they have done. Look out future Townhall dates! ✨
Minneapolis residents want to see vulnerable neighbors supported, affordability in their lives, quality public projects & investment in infrastructure, and public safety system that’s effective and does not spend wastefully.
It’s clear: the people of Minneapolis wants to see local government step up for them especially when the federal government has not.
Ward 12 Townhall was a smash! Had the best time connecting with my neighbors. We recapped 8 months of hard work at City hall on behalf of the people of Minneapolis. We talked through current events and had a good deep dive into the issues during the Q&A.
I also want to shoutout my colleague @robin4mpls.bsky.social for sharing that she has faced similar mental health struggles and speaking out in her newsletter. I thank her for being solidarity with us and I stand in full solidarity with her. ❤️
Proud of my colleague & friend @aishaforward10 for taking an important step to care for herself. I support her 100% in her journey and the step to take leave from the City for the next few weeks. Go to her page to read her statement. It is brave and powerful, and it sets an important example. ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful Longfellow Community Dinner last night at Moon Palace Books- we had delicious meals from local food trucks on site and got to spend some down time with neighbors. Awesome way to kick-off the official start to Summer! ☀️

Two besties whispering at the Hennepin County DFL convention
Stopped by the Hennepin County Convention to support my amazing Commissioner Angela Conley! ❤️💛🖤 She has worked so hard the last 8 years to support and serve District 4 and bring the county board closer to everyday people. @angelaconley.bsky.social 🔥✨
Excited to bring our Pride Policy package forward in our next Council Committee Cycle. Thank you to the amazing Drag queens, Vogue Performers, City staff, and our Minneapolis community for an unforgettable event! ✨🔥💗
Pride Reception & Breakfast! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ We just had a historic celebration with the first ever Drag Show and Vogue Peformance. In Minneapolis, we love, accept, and support our 2SLGBTQIA+ and the work is generational to implement policy to ensure our institutions and systems live out that value.
It gets even BETTER! Tomorrow we will also have Vogue Down Minneapolis performing 🥰🔥✨
HAPPY PRIDE! Come to City Hall tomorrow morning for a Pride Monfh celebration and breakfast – and City Hall’s first ever Drag Show! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Come at 8AM to the City Hall rotunda if you are able! And check out the amazing Drag Queen line up gracing us tomorrow ✨
Ward 12 Office Hours are so back! Join this Friday 6/12 at 9AM to 10:30AM at Arya Cafe, located at 4603 Minnehaha Ave. I will be giving updates on what’s been happening at City Hall & taking up any constituent issues. If there are specific topics you’d like to discuss email ward12@minneapolismn.gov

“My Daddy changed the world,” said 6-year-old Gianna Floyd in 2020. Gianna was right, and six years later, her father continues to change it. Today, and every day, we here in Minneapolis honor the life and legacy of George Perry Floyd.
