I'm just going to note here that Matt Yglesias, who has very strong views on what voters in the rustbelt want, thinks that Lansing is in Wisconsin.
The book won't even be out yet for a couple more months, but already right-thinking people everywhere are feeling petrified by the chilling vision of my big-brained co-author:
Ash relaxing under the desk while I post this morning's episode on the podcast feed:
We're still two and a half months from publication, but Verso's starting to print up some advance copies. Just got this picture:
My, @sunraysunray.bsky.social & @mikejbeggs.bsky.social's book "The Blueprint: How Socialism Can Work in the Real World" comes out this fall. I'd love to do a lot of university events as part of promotion (philosophy or poli sci dept's, YDSAs, etc.) Hit me up if you're at one and want to set one up!
I guess this is about as close as papal etiquette allows to just coming out and saying it.
A little preview for tomorrow's episode of Give Them An Argument, where we'll replay my debate with Jillian Michaels (it went up on her channel today). This is from the exchange on whether we should have tuition-free public higher education:
Two days ago my Twitter account was hacked. So far, I'm not optimistic about getting it back but I'll keep trying. Meanwhile please don't open any links if you get a DM "from" me over there!
Ash made several appearances on today's episode of Jacobin's YouTube show. This was the most ridiculous one--happened while I wass trying to make a serious point but it's pretty funny if you watch it with the sound off.
Coming up in 10 days with @aminsohrabi.bsky.social at Bar Freda in Queens! tickets.venuepilot.com/e/ben-burgis...
I'm in @jacobinmag.bsky.social today, writing about the No Kings protests: jacobin.com/2026/03/no-k...
If you're in Toronto tomorrow, come check out me, @mattpolprof.bsky.social, Christine Sypnowich, and Les Jacobs talk about a new book of essays about G.A. Cohen, edited by Matt and me, with contributions from Christine and Les and other excellent people. Free and open to the public.
In my latest for @unherd.com, I once again note that, at a time when the Trump administration is leaning into insane amounts of chaos and authoritarianism, it would be nice if we had an opposition party that wasn't...whatever this is. unherd.com/newsroom/boy...
Lucy has started wanting to play with her favorite toy again for the first time in the nearly two months since she had to go on pain pills, lost the use of her back legs, etc. Hard to overstate what an improvement this is in terms of her energy level even vs. like a week ago.
Between traveling and taking care of my invalid dog, I haven't been able to teach my Capital class in LA for several weeks, but a few of the students drove down hang out in Rosarito & hence scored some homemade guacamole and free copies of "Confessions of a 'Class Reductionist'":
I'm in @jacobinmag.bsky.social today with a look at the ways in which Zohran is uniquely Bernie's heir--both in that he's a *product* of the post-Bernie left in a way none of the other nationally prominent "Berniecrats" were and in his adoption of Bernie's left-populist communication playbook.
Election Night live show/celebration in Queens! Tickets: www.barfreda.com#/events/156966
I'm in @msnbc.com today, writing about the particular chickens currently coming home to roost:
A few more pictures from the Partido de Trabjo conference + the written version of my intro for @profwolff.bsky.social. The 2nd pic is the most meaningful to me--I got to meet one of my heroes (Ofer Cassif, who was almost expelled from the Knesset for speaking out against the genocide).
A bit of the opening of the conference yesterday. The beginnings of DSA meetings are never as good as this!
So, this was pretty cool: Yesterday I got to introduce @profwolff.bsky.social at a conference of socialist, communist and labor parties from all around Latin America (and several outside of it) hosted in Mexico City by the Partido del Trabajo:
Tonight at 6 PM at 711 Catherine St. in Atlanta, I'm speaking to @atldemsoc.bsky.social on "How Marxism Can Help Us Understand the World Around Us." If you apply stern pressure, you might be able to twist my arm (and perhaps even twist @mattpolprof.bsky.social's arm) into getting a beer after:
