Last day today for Local Board 3 year plans! Ask for safe, connected walking, cycling and micro-mobility options, and be specific. Name the street, the intersection, the gap. How to submit: https://www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2026/07/20/quick-speak-up-for-local-board-three-year-plans/
Coming soon: smart signs comparing travel times by bike, bus and car 💡 By sharing journey time by public transport, car and bike, the signs create awareness of the options. https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/coming-soon-smart-signs-which-compare-travel-times-by-bike-public-transport-and-car/
A plea: report ALL bike and scooter crashes 🙏 It’s a sad fact that safer street design often comes only after crashes. Your minor crash may mean the street is improved, and someone else’s major crash never happens. https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/a-plea-report-all-bike-and-scooter-crashes/
🔢 Who’s counting? 10 things you never knew about Auckland’s bicycle counters 👀 Since 2010 Auckland Transport has been counting trips but lots has changed since then ... https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/whos-counting-10-things-you-never-knew-about-aucklands-bicycle-counters/
Inner West improvements – what will go ahead and what won’t? Aucklanders had their say on the Waitematā Local Active Modes Plan. AT have responded, and it’s a mixed bag. https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/inner-west-improvements-what-will-go-ahead-and-what-wont/
Record Ridership in Auckland! A wonderful opportunity for Bike Auckland to celebrate the record numbers of people riding bikes in April and May. Our Co-Chair, Karen Hormann speaks to Chris Chang on TVNZ Breakfast.
Upper Queen Street cycleway separators are now back, following resurfacing 🎉 We've confirmed they are in their correct position at the Canada St end. Works were completed last night. Thanks for your patience and care during the maintenance.

Auckland Transport's latest cycle counts, drawn from 26 official counters, show that cycle movements have, for the very first time, climbed above their pre-COVID peak. Here's why that's so significant: https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/cycle-trips-rise-above-pre-covid-levels
Take your bike on Auckland’s new electric ferry from this month ✨⛴️ We ask: How well do the new ferries measure up for travelling with different kinds of bikes? Full story: https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/take-your-bike-on-aucklands-new-electric-ferry-from-this-month/ #multimode #tripchain
👀 Riders on the NW Shared Path who cross Carrington Road, your crossing has moved. Turn north (toward Pt Chev peninsula) instead of the usual south (toward Mt Albert) to cross Carrington Road at the temporary crossing. Watch out for directions and signage telling you where to cross - it may change.
Construction has begun on the Carrington Road Improvement Project ✨ Watch out for: ⚠️ NW Path raised crossing is moving. ⚠️ Sharing the lane with cars (speed limit is 30 kmh). ⚠️ Very bumpy surface - not suitable for thin tyres. Our advice: if you can take a different route, do that. #cycling
You’re invited! Love Your Path turns two 🥳🧑🌾🎂 Everyone is invited this Sunday to recognise and thank the wonderful volunteers who have made it such a success. More 👉 https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/youre-invited-love-your-path-turns-two/ #LoveYourPath #HappyBirthday #workingbee
✍️ Have Your Say on improving the Belmont Shops intersection - final days ⌚ We think AT needs to look back at previous designs and remember safety for people on bikes. https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/have-your-say-on-improving-the-belmont-shops-intersection/ #HaveYourSay #Submission #SpeakUp
When will the Unitec/Carrington cycleway open? It's tantalising. We can see it sitting there ready to ride but not yet open. We were recently interviewed by Stuff on this. We share our comments in full 👇 https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/when-will-the-unitec-carrington-cycleway-open/
⚠️ Take extra care cycling on Upper Queen Street 👀 The cycle lane separators have been removed from Upper Queen Street in preparation for asphalt resurfacing. The separators will be back once the resurfacing is complete. Cars are mistakenly parking where the bike lane should be. Go carefully.
In a mixed bag of success and disappointment, Auckland Transport will still build the Rā Hihi cycleway but it will now be bidirectional to make space for an extra general traffic lane. The full story 👇 https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/ra-hihi-pakuranga-cycleway-to-be-built-now-bidirectional/
Opinion: NZ’s laws are outdated and don’t reflect the range of micromobility devices used today. A high profile accident may result in a knee-jerk law change that would affect everyone on an e-bike. How watts and laws intersect👇 https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/we-need-to-talk-about-e-motos/
Auckland Transport proposes pedestrian safety improvements around Newton Central School. They need to be more ambitious 🤔 Have your say by THIS FRIDAY ⌛ https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/have-your-say-on-improvements-around-newton-central-school-by-this-friday/
⚠️ Take extra care cycling around the Karanga-a-Hape Station streets at night Mon-Wed this week 👀🌙 The line markings for the cycle lanes are being painted (yay!) and bikes will be redirected onto the road. Affects Lower Mercury Lane, Canada St and East St 8pm-5am.
If you’ve used Bike Auckland’s Bike Valet service, there’s a good chance you’ve been greeted by Richard Jones’ smile. He shares his top moments looking after our bikes at the Bike Valet. https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/news/more-than-just-a-bike-rack-my-view-from-the-bike-valet/
