SB26-133 Colorado Artist Company Act
The Colorado General Assembly just passed SB26-133 Colorado Artist Company Act, co-sponsored by Senators Bridges and Catlin and Representatives Martinez and Taggart.

It passed in the House on Monday, May 11. The Senate concurred with the House amendments and officially passed SB26-133 this morning (May 13) on their last day of session. This bill is now off to Governor Polis for signature.

Upon the Governor’s signature, Colorado will become the first state in the nation to develop a new type of business entity just for artists and creative enterprises.

Artists are vital to our economy, workforce and quality of life in Colorado and nationwide. However, current business structures available to artists do not always fit how creative work is made, owned and shared. Commonly known as an Artist Corporation or A-Corp, this new business entity will empower and benefit artists. It offers a blueprint to create a business that provides greater protection, access to capital, and collaboration for artists of all kinds.
