Once again the Black Iron series delivers!! @mytholder.bsky.social has created a world I am thoroughly fascinated in exploring and utterly sure I would never, ever want to be part of. The evolution of Eladora is probably the thread I am the most fascinated by. Reminds me a bit of Wes from Angel.
B&N is having a sale as I’m sure many of us have seen. The next anthology I have a story in is part of this as well. I get to share space with a lot of heavy hitters in the industry. This book is overflowing with talent. Would love if you checked it out! It drops next week.
Got recc’d this one a while back by @fozmeadows.bsky.social and I just wrapped it up last night. Man what a weird, strange beautiful world this took place. More fantasy without a single human pls!! @marthawells.com made the Raksura so alien and enthralling.
My little brother wanted us to read a book together and we settled on this one and WHEWWWW this was a really intense, good, heavy read. The definition of no character is safe. Just sobering at some so many points. Good stuff but damn man. I don't think I actually liked anyone lol
Got to open a very special ARC today ❤️! @ldlewiswrites.blacksky.app has been my true north in these publishing streets for over a decade now. I cannot overstate how proud I am of her! YEAR OF THE MER is such a story with characters that demand you hand over your heart.
Always a good day to remind yall to pre-order YEAR OF THE MER! One of my personal mermaid headcanons is that Ursula and Triton were most definitely a thing and it was a thing she out an end to. Because that man screams BITTER EX in the Disney film 😂
This is a moment not lost on me. @ldlewiswrites.com and myself have been friends for almost (if not over) a decade now. I was a fan first though and getting to be the first blurb for YEAR OF THE MER is something I manifested for us years ago. Pre-order yall! www.simonandschuster.com/books/Year-o...
Gonna try and attend these #SDCC panels later today if anyone is around and wants to link up 🙌
Only a couple of days away until my San Diego Comic-Con debut! I’m super excited to talk about the road from being a fan to becoming an entertainment professional. I’m on panel with some heavy hitters and wow what an honor! If you’re attending SDCC, I would love to see you. At the panel or otherwise
This is so incredibly absurd. And every liberal who’s spent any amount of time shouting a leftist down for criticizing Dem leadership should be doing an apology lap right now. The guy WON. Rally behind your winner, do the work and continue winning.
Reading @kateelliottsff.bsky.social’s THE WITCH ROADS and I will never say no to more aurochs popping up in fantasy worlds!
Under an hour till I'm LIVE with @rockpapercynic.bsky.social doing some Speed Worldbuilding using the Deck of Worlds. I'm over doing some last minute card organizing 😁
Just came across this show and I’m so angry it wasn’t up and down the TL. Do you know how many Black folks are dying to see contemporary witches? I’m annoyed! But glad I found it now
The descriptions in this are exactly what I would want and expect from Black/brown Fae and Elves. @ebonidunbar.bsky.social put me on this one and the audiobook really delivered.
This is the kind of shit I write lmao. The novel I’m revising has a gangster witch who owns an underground rave joint. A NECESSARY CHAOS had the boys chewing on necromantic worms to get high and party 😂. Now I feel like magic nipple piercings have to pop up somewhere 🤔🤔
In the continued spirit of posting about stories as I think about them, the relationship dynamics of Fox and Gabe are just so disgustingly (good connotation here lol) real. I will always champion more gay men writing stories about gay men. Throw more deals at @nathantavares.bsky.social publishing!
Trying out something new where whenever I randomly think of a book/story for a good reason, I try to remember to post about it. There's a line of dialogue in this book that uses the word terrifying & the exchange is so raw & pops up in my head often. @ellethevillain.bsky.social did that as always!
Almost done with this and I am GAGGING at how much Julian was on these Christians’ NECKS 😂😂. Kinda iconic. Yes, I’m aware the ones of then aren’t the ones of today but I am having a good time imagining they are American evangelicals so allow me this small joy.
Created my first Lore Web with the Loremaster’s Deck! So we got a monarchy with some extensive arcane knowledge dealing with an embarrassing scandal. And they also engage in a ritual involving blood dumplings. This whole world keeps getting crazier 😍😂
And now we have a few locations for these characters to bang up against. The God-Touched Mountain is actually spot on pertinent to our radical soldier looking to unleash some divine wrath!
Story Engine, Deck of Worlds and Lore Master’s Deck is how I’m spending my Christmas night. The cards have already given me an interesting trio of characters 🧐🧐
I started tracking my writing by day a couple of years ago and it really helped me see the bigger picture and relax. This number looks great but average wise it’s about 380-ish words a day. So be easy on yourself. If you can only do a little at a time it’ll still take you far 🫶❤️
The Dead Cat Tail Assassins from @pdjeliclark.bsky.social is just one more example of how good this man is! The worlds are always incredible and they manage to infuse so many disparate elements while still feeling incredibly cohesive. I don't know how he does it but I admire the hell out of it.
Sibilance by @boriscrito.bsky.social in @interzone.press #299 was brilliant in how it explored the intersection of endless progress and madness. Knowing what the idea seed of this short was makes it all the more fascinating. interzone.press/iz-299/
You Don’t Belong Where You Don’t Belong by @kashinggiwa.bsky.social at @reactorsff.bsky.social with this story gave me the same kind of "oh these aliens are weird weird" vibes I got from Animorphs & that has not happened in a really long time. So bravo on that alone! reactormag.com/you-dont-bel...
The Ghost in the Server by Gregory Neil Harris from @interzone.digital was such a satisfying, cool sci-fi thriller. You couldn't help but to root for the main couple because they could really be any of us. interzone.digital/the-ghost-on...
Truth of the Aleke by @mosesoseutomi.bsky.social explores how history becomes legend and legend twisted into propaganda. And how people's perceived strengths make them easy prey for the world. us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
Disassembling Light by @kcolemanwrites.bsky.social from @bcsmagazine.bsky.social Funny I read this so soon after Kenyan because it too has something to say about talent and creativity but from a much darker perspective. www.beneath-ceaseless-skies.com/stories/disa...
Still very very proud of @older.bsky.social and I keep coming back to this! 🤩
Like fantasy? Want to laugh hard enough to make your sides hurt? Then I HIGHLY encourage you to check out RUNNING CLOSE TO THE WIND by @alexandrarowland.bsky.social Why do I bring it up? Because I thought about a scene from it today in the shower and giggled for three minutes at least.
