I cry often at paintings, that's nothing new. This is the first time I've been terrified to tears by a painting. Staring at the canvas I felt the violence imprinted on the painting mixing with the violence from my own family traumas and recurring nightmares, it made me a bit nauseous.
We were at the Portland Art Museum and their David Hockney exhibit was absolutely beautiful.
