Today is an incredible moment for the Hillsborough families who fought so long and hard for the Hillsborough Law. We are proud to have stood alongside them as part of the Hillsborough Law Now coalition. Their legacy will be a more just society.
And there were more problems with VIP Lane contracts delivering what they were supposed to… 8/
VIP Lane contracts were also more expensive overall…. 7/
Despite officials believing VIP referrals would be more credible and worth prioritising - the data published by the Inquiry suggests the opposite. For one, VIP Lane contracts had more middle-men involved (which tend to add cost).... 6/
Companies referred through the VIP lane were 13 times more likely to be awarded a contract, the Inquiry found 3/

The Hillsborough Law is finally set to be approved by MPs. A big step towards creating a fairer society where the scales of justice are more evenly balanced. What an incredible legacy for the Hillsborough Families and all those who have campaigned to reach this moment.
If you agree that the thousands killed by Covid-19 across Greater Manchester and the North West deserve somewhere to be remembered, then please sign our petition: www.change.org/manchesterco... 2/2
Our members Hayley and her daughter Terri were interviewed by BBC Radio Manchester today about our campaign for a Covid memorial in Manchester. Manchester City Council have responded by saying they have planted trees. Not good enough. Our loved ones deserve a proper memorial. 1/2
Today we’ve written to the Foreign Secretary, urging her to reverse the decision to axe funding to the global pandemic fund. The Government had committed just 0.0004% of annual spending to global pandemic prevention. Now, even that has been cut. This decision must be reversed.
Misinformation and conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines are growing. They put lives at risk. The Covid Inquiry has found that vaccines were safe, saved millions of lives worldwide, and helped end the pandemic. These are the facts:
Today, we wrote to Nigel Farage following a string of stories in recent weeks exposing Reform candidates pushing Covid and vaccine conspiracy theories. We are calling on him to remove any candidate found to have promoted these views. 1/7 🧵
Tomorrow, the Covid Inquiry publishes its report on vaccines and therapeutics. Covid vaccines saved countless lives and helped end the emergency stage of the pandemic. The report must now drive urgent action to strengthen preparedness, tackle misinformation and ensure equal access to vaccines.
At 12pm tomorrow, the Covid Inquiry publishes its report on the pandemic's impact on our health system. Those who left the NHS chronically underfunded and unprepared must be held to account, and the findings must drive urgent action to make the NHS fit for the 21st century.
The likes of Matt Hancock continue to claim the NHS wasn't overwhelmed during the pandemic. Experts like Dr Kevin Fong exposed that myth during the inquiry hearings. On Thursday, the inquiry must be clear: years of austerity left the NHS overwhelmed and unprepared.
At 12pm next Thursday, the @covidinquiryuk will publish its Module 3 report on the impact of the pandemic on Healthcare systems. Here is what the Inquiry’s report must do next week. 🧵 1/10
Today is the Day of Reflection. A day to remember the lives lost since the pandemic began. In their name, we will keep fighting for justice.
In her closing statement on behalf of the Covid Bereaved, Anna Morris KC calls on the Inquiry to ensure its work leads to real change. The hundreds of thousands lost to Covid must not have died for nothing. That must be this Inquiry’s legacy.
After years of evidence, the Covid Inquiry hearings end today. The Inquiry will publish 8 reports over the next 2 years that will provide a blueprint for changing this country and saving lives. But that change will only happen if we fight for it.
More than two years after the first hearings began, today bereaved families give the final witness evidence to the @covidinquiryuk. After the hearing ends at 4.30pm, we will gather outside for a short statement and a moment of silence. Our fight for justice continues.
Thank you @Debbie_abrahams for chairing our discussion on the module 2 report in Parliament today. Its vitally important we get the @covidinquiryuk recommendations implemented in full. Doing so will save lives.
This week, the final module of the Covid Inquiry began. In his opening statement on our behalf, Pete Weatherby KC set out why understanding the pandemic’s impact is crucial. If we do not learn the lessons, we cannot save lives when the next crisis hits.
We stand united with all victims of state harm. It's time to put an end to cover-ups and the disgrace of victims waiting decades for justice. Enough delay. The Government needs to pass the Hillsborough Law now.
The Government must not move forward with its plans to weaken the Hillsborough Law. If it does, MPs need to stand behind the victims of state cover-ups and injustice and vote for Ian Byrne MP's amendments. The Government promised THE Hillsborough law; MPs must now deliver it.
Boris Johnson’s old tricks cannot hide his complicity. Our member, Lobby Akinnola, on the disgraced former PM's attempt to wash his hands of responsibility for the deaths of our loved ones ⬇️ www.covidfamiliesforjustice.org/latestnews/b...
Thank you, Jen Craft MP, for raising the Covid Inquiry report at PMQs. Boris Johnson's negligence resulted in thousands of avoidable deaths. That is why we are calling for his access to the £ 115k-a-year ex-PM allowance to end. Sign our Petition: c.org/7NCWHGntgg
In the wake of the Inquiry report, BorisJohnson is desperately trying to save his reputation by spreading lies and myths about his response to the pandemic. So here is a reminder of what it is he would like us all to forget:
Our statement following the publication of the Covid Inquiry Module 2 report into Core UK decision-making and political governance:
5 years ago tonight, we projected a video onto Parliament, demanding Boris Johnson meet us and call a Public Inquiry Tomorrow, that Inquiry delivers its verdict on the political leadership that oversaw the loss of more than 230,000 of our loved ones. It's time for accountability.
In 6 days, the Covid Inquiry will release its final verdict on the political leadership of Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock and others during the pandemic. This report will conclude its investigation into Core UK decision-making and political governance, known as Module 2. 🧵 1/4
