To be honest, I'm just relieved Trump didn't spew nonsense about Canada interfering in American politics by exporting its communist ideas about not bankrupting people because they need medical attention. Also, buy this book if you'd like a perceptive account of an election that wasn't rigged.
Ah, new book smell. Nothing finer. The definitive account of a remarkable moment in Canadian political history. Many thanks to a sterling roster of contributors and to @mcgillqueensup.bsky.social
Do me a favour and imagine each of these people wearing a fez rather than a cowboy hat and consider how that might change the import of what they’re arguing. Having done that, now imagine each of them wearing an N-95.
I am in the UK and have been trying to explain to my friends and their friends that Canada is pretty much on a war footing. They look at me as though I’m bonkers. Trump posted this 7 hours ago: Starmer, Meloni, van der Leyen, Macron, and a map showing Canada and Greenland as US territory.
Tonight at midnight the border between Spain and Gibraltar will disappear. Even when Britain was a member of the EU, there was still a hard border at Gibraltar. After midnight, Gibraltar will enter the Schengen Zone. Only passengers arriving at Gibraltar by air will go through passport control.
In the UK, every commercial break in the World Cup coverage is marked by ITV playing two seconds of Life is a Highway. I hope Tom Cochrane is making a fortune.
Watching England v Norway in a pub in Chiswick. Whenever Infantino is shown on the screen the patrons boo and make the jerk-off gesture.
Hmmm. If someone gave you close access to Trump and a golf club, what would *you* do? Would you go for his kneecaps first or directly for his head?
“The official declined to explain the security issue when asked.” Oh oh. Sounds like the New York Times is on double secret probation.
Mark Carney preparing to meet Trump at the NATO summit in Ankara.
There’s a lovely little restaurant in my neighbourhood called Erling’s. They should definitely host a watch party for the Norway-England game next Saturday.
Ha ha ha. Belgium tries to win favour with the American Despot by showering jewels at his feet, and what do they get in return? Balogun’s red card rescinded.
Those cheeky Scots have done up the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow in advance of the Mexico-England game today.

I'm told we're going to be competing in the Eurovision song contest next year.
This fabulous photo of Weird Al Yankovic by Christopher Polk of WireImage makes him look like all three of the Musketeers and Cardinal Richelieu at the same time.
Next time Canada decides to have a nation-wide referendum, this should be the question.
According to the website of the ritzy Hotel Washington, this is what the Great American State Fair was supposed to look like, as best their AI slop could imagine it. Not so much a state fair as a trade fair. Nothing but booths. No kids, you'll notice. No old people either. No one in a wheelchair.
I have suggestions about how to boost attendance at the Great American State Fair. * Bouncy castle in the form of the Capitol building. Let the tykes go at it. * Make it open carry. People can see one another's guns. * Polymarket hospitality tent wherein you venture to have your future told.
I would not be unhappy if this thing were to sink (with no one on board, of course).
