The music is catchy, and the sound effects are ultra goofy! I played it constantly, and I still have my handwritten Game Genie codes for invincibility and infinite ammo that I copied from a game magazine.
The battery died decades ago, but I can still remember the sound perfectly! Jurassic Park for NES, and the film itself, were both released in June 1993. Late for that milestone, but finding my missing copy of the novel along with my Zelda II Halloween decoration has me thinking about it again!
Did anyone have the Jurassic Park NES game or any of the original toys? This Dilophosaurus toy from the original Jurassic Park was my “alarm clock” as a kid. 🤭 My dad got it for me and thought it was hilarious to wake me up by pulling its arm so it roared in my ear. 😆

In 1989, Eureka released several Nintendo-licensed decorations, including Super Mario Bros. and Zelda decals. I couldn’t find another one of these anywhere, but I did come across a similar Mario Christmas decoration!
I loved it so much that I refused to let my mom pack it away with the Halloween decorations. It stayed in the corner of my room for years… until I apparently tucked it into an old computer box for safekeeping before leaving for college and gallivanting around the world.
Seeing the original packaging with the words “Featuring Creatures from the Underworld” instantly brought back the memory of opening it as a kid. And it has those fold out tissue paper spiders (Tektites?) that were everywhere then!
Did you have any of the Nintendo holiday decorations from Eureka growing up? I recently sorted through an old computer box I hadn’t opened since the 2000s. Inside were my senior year binder, my long-lost copy of the Jurassic Park novel… and a folded-up Zelda II Halloween decoration I forgot about!!

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most influential video game series of all time, and I’m happy to celebrate the amazing memories it created today! Also thrilled to have a Sega now despite not growing up with my own!
We also watched the whimsical Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog as well as the Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. It’s still wild to think that Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) voiced Sonic!
I grew up with Nintendo rather than Sega, but a good friend in my neighborhood had a Genesis, and we’d often play the original Sonic the Hedgehog at his house. His scores were always better than mine, but we had a blast seeing how fast we could go and how many rings we could collect.
The platformer was a huge success, and a generation of ’90s kids became enthralled with the sassy hedgehog’s quest to stop Dr. Robotnik (Eggman) from world domination.

They’ll come in handy on my play through because they have detailed enemy stats and dungeon map layouts! FF1 was my 1st FF, which my dad got me on a game store employee’s recommendation! I also framed the classic Nintendo Power FF poster, which normally hangs above my CRT!
Embarking on a quest to restore the powers of earth, wind, fire, and water to the Four Orbs on my childhood Final Fantasy 1 cartridge tonight on stream! My dad got this game for me when I was a kid and I’ve kept the original box, an 80 page explorers handbook/manual, and inserts ever since!
Spoilers on how to beat him if you’re curious! After I got Erdrick’s sword I reentered Charlock’s Castle with full life and magic. I preserved all my MP until I got to the Dragonlord, ignoring enemies and using a Torch to get there. Then, I focused on attacking and using Healmore.
I beat Dragon Warrior on stream this weekend on original hardware! It was my 2nd time beating it, and I had an absolute blast. I got lucky beating the Dragonlord at level 19. I only had 4 MP left and thought I’d need to start over, but got him! It’s possible at 17 or 18, but even 19 takes luck!

It’s hard to believe that within this last week I not only saw announcements of remakes for FFVII and Ocarina of Time AND saw a He-Man movie in theaters (the fight scenes were so fun and the end sequence is absolute gold). What a week! What game are you most excited for?
I’m back from a vacation, and what an unbelievably incredible week for gaming announcements from Summer Games Fest, State of Play, and Nintendo Direct! Between Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the Ocarina of Time Remake, and Kingdom Hearts 4, I’m absolutely ecstatic!
