emma d’arcy. which is unfortunate because they’re already extremely good looking on screen.
i know first hand how expensive this isssss (please buy more of my books, lolsob) but also—i love the work i got for The Sovereign so you will surely not be disappointed!

after yesterday’s many shenanigans (incl. a 14k trail race), I plan on living on the couch today and tearing through The Thrice-Bound Fool. Might go wild and switch it up with John Gwynne’s upcoming Wolves of War if I want to change gears.
Event klaxon! I’ll be participating in TBRCON on Saturday August 1! Tune in to hear me talk about Foreshadowing Done Right with Stephen Aryan, Ryan Cahill, Eileen Mueller, and J.D.L. Rosell, moderated by D.W. Ross! We’ll be on at 2PM CST/8PM BST. Also that’s basically my birthday so you gotta come.
al’Lan Mandragoran taught me everything I know and then some. Duty is heavier than a mountain…
I made a terrible comic!!!!! (a day late) #makeaterriblecomicday #makeaterriblecomicday2026
in other news, we commence upon the rewrite for #Warmongers, which includes this fancy calendar of the sort that I usually only use for my athletic training plans (which says a lot about the overlap of these pursuits). Today: writing exercises and rewriting a chapter with a more epistolary POV.
FATE'S BANE When a burgeoning love for the enemy chieftain’s daughter lures Agnir to a hidden spring, a magic awakens in them that could bind their clans under one banner at last—or destroy any hope of peace. US: tinyurl.com/2k4hr2cm UK: tinyurl.com/3awnyke2
THE SOVEREIGN Luca is the new queen of Balladaire and Touraine is her general. A storm is coming and they will stand against it together, or it will tear them apart once and for all. US: tinyurl.com/4j7e5nbc UK: tinyurl.com/3w37yd9v
2025 was a THREE BOOK YEAR for me. I'm gonna break them down for you in this thread, but head to my website at the link in bio for more details and sign up for my newsletter to keep tabs on future books, giveaways, sneak peeks, and events!
I love the broadside they made me for the first chapter of #TheSovereign! You will surely not regret getting a comic of your characters.
whirlwind couple of weeks, faster than normal but having a blast and wanting to be done before christmas
just finished my first solo play-through of ironsworn by @shawntomkin.bsky.social and it was such a fun storytelling experience. my first completed solo rpg, def not my last. won’t say much more about it for reasons but here’s a hint of what went down and who i was.
when the ai promo—sorry, reader critic curator—scammer forgets their ai affirmation in the bottom of the email 🙄 and anyway, it’s sad swamp lesbians. if you’d actually like to help Fate’s Bane reach readers who “crave tragic beauty” with a “soft spot for doomed love,” share it with a friend!
After a whirlwind time in Brighton at World Fantasy Con, here’s a quick reminder of the last few UK tour stops! Edinburgh, Nov 4 w/ Hannah Kaner Glasgow, Nov 5 w/ @taylorwdriggers.bsky.social Leeds, Nov 6 w/ @tashasuri.bsky.social @toribovalino.bsky.social Tickets below!

Yes! YES! The tigerS are OUT! Now the only thing left to do is decide…will you read Fate’s Bane first? Or The Sovereign? I made a handy flowchart that can help you decide which if you aren’t sure!!!
this is after a run. i was very thirsty. you can see the salt lining my running vest
just shy of 180k, i DO think it will grow more in the revision process, but i’m going to take standalone privilege and say that it doesn’t need to be shorter.
so close—i don’t even think that i’m going to need the 200k that i thought this book would be. just finished the last big fight scene. not going to say too much about it, but the choreography was inspired by the duel of the fates scene in star wars episode 1 and Eivor vs. Kassandra (IYKYK 😏)
back in may, i had the chance to interview Antonia Hodgson, author of one of my favorite books this year, The Raven Scholar. it’s a big book that, to me, heralded the return to massive page turners, and it was clever and twisting in ways that satisfied even this jaded reader. plus, it was just FUN.
if you stiiilll like lesbiannnnns i have mooooore lesbiannnnnsss (yes, i made that knife) (yes, it’s thematically relevant)
