@mcdotnow.bsky.social are there plans to put a sidewalk back in on this section of 2nd Ave @ Fenwick? the barriers for the temp sidewalk were removed today, but the fence still blocks the permanent sidewalk. there’s no way to safely cross 2nd without doubling all the way back to Spring

Working Draft at the Planning Board

Next Thursday, July 16, Montgomery Planning staff will present the Friendship Heights Sector Plan Working Draft, the first full draft of the plan, to the Montgomery County Planning Board.

The staff report and the Working Draft are now available on the Planning Board’s website.

Staff’s presentation will guide Planning Board members through all of the plan’s draft recommendations. At the end of the presentation, staff will request that the Planning Board designate the Working Draft as the Public Hearing Draft and set the public hearing schedule.

Staff will recommend that public hearing be held in two parts:

Part 1: Thursday, September 10: a daytime hearing at 1:30 p.m. at M-NCPPC Wheaton headquarters (Second Floor Auditorium, 2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD, 20902). The hearing will allow for testimony in-person and virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Part 2: Monday, September 14: an evening hearing at 6 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (805 Edgemoor Ln, Bethesda, MD 20814). The hearing will allow for in-person testimony only.

Both parts of the public hearing will be livestreamed and recorded for on-demand viewing.

I have encountered a wonderful and enchanting Product

Mister Bee Mothman potato chips, based in Parkersburg, West Virginia. A paragraph on the back of the bag reads: The Legendary Mothman!
Anyone from the Mountain Region knows the tales of Mothman.
While checking on his potato crop one evening by moonlight, Mister Bee encountered the Mothman and tried to capture him.
In the scuffle, Mister Bee took a blow to the head and everything went dark. He awoke hours later bruised but unharmed. Since that time, Mister Bee has had visions and impressions of a unique blend of spices. Working for months at his snack kitchen here in Parkersburg, he turned these visions into a reality.
The result is an amazing flavor of potato chips made right here in
West Virginia....Enjoy!

made it to the bus and saluted the Old Georgetown Road bike lanes. Moral of the story we need more shade, and more infrastructure for people and not just for cars!!!

Picture of the Westfield Montgomery Mall transit center. You can see a few buses going in and out or at stops (including the one I subsequently sprinted to get on, lol). The bus stops themselves have wide canopies for shade which is awesome!!! However you can see it is very sunny all around this island of shade and the path to get there through the parking lot( not visible in this pic) basically has no shade at all

while there is technically a pedestrian path swinging out and around between parking lots (made up of very skinny sidewalks and long crosswalks across the access points for cars), it is clear that most people just cut straight across the largely unused parking lot, which is also what I did

A very long faded crosswalk stretches across a mall driveway entrance. Across the street, a pedestrian crosses a wide road. There is maybe sort of a skinny unbuffered sidewalk where the pedestrian is crossing to but it’s very hard to tell. In the far distance and elevated above a large surface parking lot, you can see the tents of a transit center. It is unclear how a pedestrian is supposed to get there. Also it is very sunny with little shade
