Sunday Jul 19 6p PDT: I've been "talked" into a game of Cursed Companions with friends. We're on MAIN, so expect code shenanigans. This time chat gets their own "cursed" word. Say it too much and you perish. Can you guess your word before there's nobody left? 😈
Music to My Ears 2.0 is out, my script for @firebot.app doing Spotify song requests on Twitch. New: jukebox protection so one viewer can't hog the queue, plus errorText, a ready-to-send reason whenever a request fails. github.com/thecodedrift/firebot-script-music-to-my-ears
I've falled in love with Git Town www.git-town.com not only does it do Stacked PRs correctly, it actively syncs the stacked information into the PRs themselves so you can see where a given review is. Smaller reviews = happier seniors devs
Everyone loves a good shim, right? Taskless now installs itself into .taskless and has agent compatible shims for the tools you select. No more skill duplication. Unselecting will also uninstall Taskless from an agent. Update to v 0.8.1 scripts with npx @taskless/cli
Are your raid messages in a Twitch announcement ? They should be. - They are easier to copy (no reply icon) - They stand out (easy for chat to find) Just stick a 1s delay between the two so your bot announces them right. (s/o to nanosoups where I originally saw it & forgot to copy a screenshot)
In case anyone from my chat was wondering how the "chat picks my next IDE color" poll is going after 15 rounds... (yes, they're all two digit numbers, no I won't tell you what the first number is)
I tested Cursed Halo 3 over the weekend in preparation for silliness, and I have no regrets
I took a break for a friend’s birthday and I’m thankful everyone pets this turtle’s belly
Chatslop takes away your opportunity as a streamer to make a first impression. Chatslop take away your ability to lead your community. Chatslop excludes your community from the conversation.
Our charity incentive “PlateUp! but Jakob must also wear a hotdog hat” is November 14! You all helped make this happen when you came together to support SAfG a few months ago. Let’s celebrate the one way we know how. 🌭 November 14, 2p PST 5p EST twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
I got carried away with the translator bot, but only so we can get PVTCH out the door on the Friday stream. I'm also digging into the OAuth flow. I'd like an id-only / no email scope so we can secure the endpoints without ever touching an email. But that's a tomorrow-me problem
On stream, we run a bot that translates to & from English in order to make our stream more accessible to devs who don’t have English as a primary language. But that bot is going away. :/ After we finish the progress bar work for PVTCH, I think this is a problem worth solving.
This week’s stream schedule. I want to continue working on PVTCH: Privacy-first Twitch tools, while we get our next round of developer interviews done. There’s tech week and GitHub universe events happening, so I’ll see ya around SF.
The birthday is behind us (no more jumpscares please), and it’s time to build some neat things! On Wednesday, we’re coworking On Thursday, meet PVTCH On Friday, we’re talking startup metrics twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
So here’s the birthday plan. We’re gonna build three “jumpscare” buttons in @firebot.app, but only one has the jumpscare. After all three buttons are pressed, the cooldown starts and the scare shuffles. So you’ll either need to mash all the buttons or have a bit of luck. 🩵 And then we’ll play FNAF
This week, we’ve got coworking, a day off for the WebAssembly talk, and a birthday celebration stream. I’ll share more of the birthday stream below, but the goal was to keep some code for the code stream. It is “theCodeDrift” after all…
I forgot to post this week’s stream schedule, but we’re live today exploring AST tools; can they look across files? Plus, we’re setting up a !prize redemption system & testing the @firebot.app nightly which may fix some lag when y’all press too many buttons 2p PDT | 5p EDT twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
My replies I keep on hand for whenever someone tries to tell me political violence is never the answer
We’re surviving. I just got back from babymon last night; they were awesome~
My brain is “off by one” when it comes to what day it is. We’re exploring AST tools Thursday, and there’s no content Friday. I’m out fishing that morning and hopefully coming home with a salmon.
We’re back to the usual stream schedule this week on theCodeDrift after our Monday “Drifty Drives” event. My fav part about trying to stream games is realizing how much I don’t check chat while I’m locked in. It’s way easier to read chat while programming!
Unexpected bonus, this week’s stream schedule features one of our foster kittens, Clutch. Coworking on Wednesday, our usual code stream on Thursday, and a short stream Friday where we’ll build a voucher system in @firebot.app We may also soft launch the new stream design 👀
This week’s stream schedule is a little odd because Thursday I gotta put on the ‘ole extrovert pants again for a work event. I’ll see you Wednesday & Friday though; we’ll see about finishing that MCP work and talk about the scene planning behind the v2 design. twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
Today is the day: we’re coding to support SAfG, and as promised, you can donate and force me to work in the cursed “HotDog Stand” IDE theme. Mayhem starts at noon PDT (3p EDT | 7p GMT) twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
What’s in the box? I have some guesses, but we’ll find out today. Plus, let’s see if we can convince an AI agent to *read the docs*. It’s all prep for tomorrow’s Charity stream (noon PDT Friday). But first, we code… by proxy… kind of. 2p PDT | 5p EDT twitch.tv/theCodeDrift
