Yep, that one.
It remains genuinely hilarious that people think this quote is WB Yeats. This is on the wall in Kilkenny Design in Dublin, by the way. Bit of a lurch in tone from "And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"
Found some lovely posters of my home town on Etsy. You know, with the sea front facing the wrong way and featuring that lighthouse we don’t have, and the local pubs the Ope and Howebts. (Biographical note: we used to go drinking in Howebts when I was a teenager. Fun times!)
I mean, sure, if you’re a fan of it, but there’s a time and a place.
Oh come on @itvx.com! Do you have to put a spoiler for the match, right above the replay? At least give us a chance to watch it the following morning and not have it ruined…
This Paraguay match obliges me to repeat my favourite football lookalike: Miguel Almiron and Ernest Borgnine.
Is everything all right at home Duolingo? Because this new icon is … a mood.
If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, may I offer you this… my most recent tour, as an Amazon Prime Special, for UK and Ireland viewers! (Rest of the world tour still to happen!) Lots of laughs and a huge TWIST…
Yikes! It’s out today! The “Re:Creation” Special is on Amazon Prime right now for the UK and Ireland!
When using the verb “irse” in Spanish, context is really, really important.
Apologies Reykjavik! Was supposed to be playing Haskiolabio tonight on my tour but you are completely inaccessible at the moment! A new date will be announced imminently. Best of luck with the storm!
Only the last few tickets remaining for this. An insane line-up, and for a amazing cause, the Teenage Cancer Trust. See you at the Royal Albert Hall!
Went to see Raye last night and wow, she was amazing. Just owned that stage.
Wayne Gretzky here, very excited to hear my thoughts on Ice Hockey.
Mock The Week is on TLC in 5 mins. But where is TLC? Here’s the easy guide… p.s. Hugh is back this week!
From my hotel room in Manchester, there an electronic billboard in a car park, and every 30 seconds, you can see money being burnt to promo a film no one wants to see, to placate an ego, 5,000 miles away. Must check out that new biscuit though.
Received this text message from my father yesterday. Panicked that he had had a stroke, or similar. Turns out it was my iPhone trying to transcribe the Irish language.
Just did my 250th show in Vicar st. Recorded for a streaming special later in the year. And it was the most “Vicar St” night ever. Constant interruptions; audience laughing ahead of the joke; a woman who laughed at all the serious moments and then fell off her chair. It was magnificent. Adored it.
Sad news from the Daily Gazette in Colchester. Look, we had a good run.
Like this, but without Ducks and with people with flags in their bio.
Huge thanks to Vicar st for three more brilliant nights, despite the heat! And thanks to everyone who donated to the @simoncommunity.bsky.social last night! Back in the UK from September, back in Galway and Dublin in January. All dates on daraobriain.com #recreationtour
Ah, Dublin, you gorgeous beast. Doing the last pre-summer gigs of the tour here this weekend, and then back for the UK in Autumn and Dublin again in January. And then Europe and the world yadda yadda. Look, just let me enjoy the nice weather and the city looking great.
Last three shows in Dublin this week! Three gorgeous shows last week including: Deserts brought direct to your table; Dara’s gaydar strikes again; you dropped that Toronto accent fast; and the old saying “Two assholes can make a nice child”. #youhadtobethere
Huge thanks to all who came out to the Marquee in Cork last night. As ever, one of the great nights of the tour. Here I am, in characteristic Christ-like pose.
