Maricela Rueda is still in segregation. There is still no reason being given to why she is being held there. This is a violation of her right to due process. We refuse to let her sit in a dungeon by herself while she is already bearing the burden of being incarcerated. We (1/3)

the past month due to consistent, violent spraying of a cognitively disabled woman who is bravely refusing to be strip searched. On June 23, she was threatened by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Joy White after asserting her right to counsel. This is unacceptable, and has (2/3)

Hello, I’m calling on behalf of people incarcerated at Johnson County who are facing horrendous conditions. The mental and physical torture of segregation needs to stop at this facility. Those in segregation have a much higher chance of being neglected by jail staff ,and most jail deaths at Texas jails have happened in segregation. Deaths happened in Johnson County Jail in 2016, 2020, 2021, and this past Wednesday due almost entirely to medical neglect.

Maricela Rueda, who has high blood pressure and is also 33, needs to be moved from segregation to general population immediately. Maricela has been housed in segregation for a month now and has experienced torture, violation, and threats from staff. Are you aware that a woman near where Maricela is housed has been pepper sprayed 5 times this month? (wait for response) Her crime? Refusing to be strip searched. There are also clear signs that this woman has a cognitive disability yet instead of care she meets abuse.

Also, were you aware that Maricela was threatened with being held naked in a suicide cell for 4 days by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Joy White when she invoked her right to counsel? (wait for response) Due to the threats against her, we also demand that Licensed Clinical Social Worker White not be allowed contact with Maricela.

Segregation is a violent place. Maricela needs to be moved to general population immediately. At the very least, she needs to be housed in an infirmary cell with other incarcerated people. We know there are beds available in multi person infirmary cells, so there is no reason she cannot be moved into one of these She was housed with codefendants for months pre trial and post trial. Of course, it would be best for her to be moved to general population, which she has been housed in with zero problems for months at Wichita Falls Jail. We will not stop calling until all our loved ones are in general population. We wil not sit back and let this jail let people die.

Mari, like her codefendants Benjamin “Champagne Song” and Zachary Evetts, is being held in segregation. She has faced extensive violating strip searches, excessive surveillance during meetings with lawyers, and was forced to breathe in pepper spray chemicals 5 times across (1/3)

Lt. Gross, the cop who was allegedly shot in the Prairieland Case, was sued in 2021 for stripping down an incarcerated man and holding him naked in a refrigerated suicide cell to make him talk without his lawyer present.
This coercive, violent, humiliating behavior is normalized in Johnson County. After returning from sentencing on June 23, Maricela was interviewed by mental health coordinator, LCSW Joy White who started asking intrusive questions about the defendants plans for appeal. . Maricela asked if she could call her lawyer. White responded: “You’re not going to be calling anyone. You’re going to be naked in a padded cell for 4 days”.

Rowan Gibson and Lucy Fowlkes need to be moved to general population. It is dangerous mentally and legally for them to be housed with defendants that cooperated against them and their codefendants. By housing them with cooperating defendants, JoCo is violating their right to a fair trial.

Holding people in administrative seg violates due process. Are you aware of that? (Wait for response). Maricela Rueda and Zachary Evetts are being held in administrative seg yet they have no disciplinaries against them. They need to be placed in general population immediately.

Are you aware that cross gender strip searches are a PREA violation? (wait for response). Then why are female guards bragging about stripping down male bodies? Why has Benjamin Song been strip searched by a female guard who later gave Song a disciplinary?

Meagan Morris needs to be put in general population. As a trans woman, she is vulnerable being in a cell by herself and needs to be with other incarcerated people who do not have such power over her body.

Just less than a week from the first day of sentencing, the Prairieland Defendants were all relocated to Johnson County, ripped away from the few comforts that were permitted at FMC and Wichita Falls. We know very little-- will they be in seg or general population? Will (1/3)

Ahead of Sentencing, Prairieland Defendants All Moved Back to Johnson County

The defendants have been returned to the original hell of their incarceration, forced to endure some of the worst conditions in Texas jails. We will be updating letter writing addresses on the website and will urgently need funds to support commissary and legal needs.
