imo it should be required in home ec to learn about the subprime mortgage crisis and how that all happened because then we'd be instilling in our kids the understanding that lenders are ontologically evil.

a paragraph about "predatory inclusion." it reads:
"The wealth that vanished from Black and Latino households did not vanish into thin air. The subprime crisis was deliberately built. Black and Latino borrowers were steered into subprime loans, with their higher rates and crueler terms, at roughly twice the rate of comparable White borrowers, and this held even for borrowers who qualified for ordinary prime credit.
