I wrote about why Alberta's Affordability Agenda matters for Banff-Kananaskis 🏔️ The people who make our mountain towns run should actually afford to live in them! Read the full post here: sarahelmeligi.wordpress.com/2026/07/07/a... 👇

Being the MLA for Banff–Kananaskis over the past three years has been the honour of my life. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this amazing riding and its residents. I hope you’ll join me at my Nomination Meeting on June 24 at artsPlace.
Thank you to the hundreds of people who sent emails, and called my office to share concerns about the proposed Silvertip gondola and All-Season Resorts Area. Yesterday I sent your concerns to the Ministers in this letter. Thank you for your interest in the future development of our community.
#MLAonTour is back! See you soon in Bragg Creek, Priddis, Beaupre, and on Facebook Live. As always, all are welcome. Come share your thoughts, concerns, or just pop in to say hi! See you there 💫
Hello Bow Valley! With the rising divisiveness around Immigraton due to the government’s upcoming referendum this fall, @bowvalleylocals’ very own Natasha Lay and I decided to do a 5 part video series on Immigration in the Bow Valley. 1/1
All of these environmental programs the UCP is cutting deliver significant value relative to their cost. Once again, the UCP has forgotten that environmental regulations are essential safeguards for when we do welcome big development in our province. Read the full article at the link in my bio. 1/2
I shared my disapproval with the UCP's undemocratic plan to interfere with the final majority report from the Electoral Boundaries Commision. Politicians should never decide their voters. You can read the full article through the link in my bio. #abpoli #gerrymandering
I am happy to announce that my newest blog post is up on Banff-Kananaskis Insider!! This post is about the All Seasons Resorts Act and how it allows for park boundaries to be altered to accommodate large scale commercial development. You can find this post and others through the link in my bio.
Working with rural landowners to increase coexistence with grizzly bears and all carnivores is absolutely necessary! This is a complicated issue and there are many solutions that this government has not been putting in place. 1/3
Silvertip is hosting a Public Open House in regards to their proposed gondola development up Mount Lady MacDonald, today from 3pm to 8pm at 2000 Silvertip Trail in Canmore, AB.
Politicians should not pick their voters. Voters should pick their politicians. Yesterday, I questioned government efforts to ignore the majority opinion for the new electoral boundaries. This government is considering their own minority opinion, authored by UCP appointees. This is gerrymandering.
Congratulations to Banff-Kananaskis' very own youth artists, Hailey and Maddy for winning my 2026 colouring contest! Both designs will be featured on my 2026 stickers! Thanks to all the amazing artists who applied, it is always wonderful to see the youth creativity in our riding.
Yesterday, the UCP had the opportunity to do the right thing, to vote yes on Bill 206, legislation proposed by my colleague, Marie Renaud, The Accessible Alberta Act. The Premier and the UCP, were unable to put partisanship aside, and said no denying Albertans the right to a barrier free world.
Will the Minister of Tourism @boitchenkoandrew commit to honouring existing and legislated park boundaries when designating all season resort areas? #albertaparks
Public consultation started on another All Season Resort area (ASRA): the twice rejected gondola up Mt Lady MacDonald. This requires park boundary changes & amendments to the South Sask regional plan. Will the Minister commit to honouring existing & legislated park boundaries when designating ASRAs?
The announcement of funding for a new francophone school in the Bow Valley is incredibly welcome, and needed to keep up with the demand for high quality French education. Read more at rmoutlook.com
It was an honour to recognize #TeamCanada and Canmore's Natalie Wilkie's amazing performances at the 2026 Paralympics in the legislature this week!
Happy World Wildlife Day! I love our cute bears that roam our parks, but especially today on World Wildlife Day, we must remember how important all wildlife is for our ecosystems. All creatures great and small have such an important role to play so lets celebrate and protect them all!
Immigration is essential for the continued prosperity of the tourism economy in the Bow Valley. You can access the full article at the link in my bio.
Today is the last day public consultation is open for the proposed Fortress All Season Resort. My biggest concern with this development, is that Provincial Park boundaries were changed to make it happen, without public consultation. If this concerns you, please make your thoughts known!
I'm so proud of all the amazing athletes from the #BowValley who represented #TeamCanada in the #Olympics. This is only a sampling of the many articles I could have tabled about our incredible athletes. We all love you and are so proud of you all. Welcome home!
I can promise you, on the very first day of Spring session 2026, I will continue to fight vehemently for the people of Banff-Kananaskis. And I will debate all day long, all night long, every day of the week. That's what we're here to do. That's why Albertans have elected us. #abpoli
Banff-Kananaskis, Let's look at Premier Smith's announcement for what it is: Trying to distract Albertans ahead of a large budget deficit next week, blaming oil prices and immigration for her government's mismanagement. Call the election now. #abpoli
