I'm going to a little Melee tournament with some really good players from my region at the end of the month... I'm still relatively new so I expect to go 0-2 but it's motivating me to get better at least!
I was trying to come up with lyrics to go with this melody and this is what came to my mind 😭 Look I would totally write a Bloodborne musical but I’m pretty sure Sony would send me a cease and desist… Recorded in 30 fps for that authentic Bloodborne experience.
Okay take 3. I reduced the color count in the hair and squeezed out one more pixel of height by getting rid of the outline at the top of the head. Also gave him white sleeves to match the character art/cutscenes. This is definitely looking more like a 5'9" 18-year-old dragon boy now IMO
Tweaked this a little bit. Still not perfect but I'm a bit happier with how it looks...
One of my favorite hobbies and ways to practice pixel art and develop my own style is doing resprites. I've been playing the PC Engine version of this obscure RPG called Emerald Dragon and I really enjoy the art style so I figured I'd do my own take on the main character's sprite. #pixelart
Fixed up this animation, added a badass red headband inspired by series like Ys and Tales so now she's kind of a cross between Casca and Cress Albane but also gave her some grey hair because you don't see many action heroes who are middle aged ladies
Is that Casca?? Just doing a little pixel/animation practice now that the album is released! #pixelart #animation
Drank a little too much yerba mate and animated this... Is there some kind of rule against brawler characters wearing long coats...? #pixelart #animation
This is getting pretty close to looking like a finished design I think #pixelart
Do we like the blue top or the more monochromatic fit...? #pixelart
Alright I think this is the one! I might tweak it here and there but it's much closer to the vibe I've been going for, for this character... #pixelart
One last iteration on this purple haired brawler girl character for the night (still a WIP, very minimally/lazily animated for the heck of it) #pixelart
Uhhh take two (three...? still a WIP but this feels less like she's gonna take my lunch money and stuff me in a locker...) #pixelart
I played with her proportions so she'd look less chibi/childlike/cutesy/cartoonish and now I'm afraid she's gonna kick my ass 😅 (WIP) #pixelart
Gold Star for Robot Girl? (real indie rock fans get the reference) #pixelart
It's time for everyone's favorite game: Which one of these do you vibe with the most?! #pixelart #characterdesign
Tried to spiff up this design a little bit, what do you think? Is it still missing something? #pixelart
How is this for a brawler girl type design? Too basic? Does it need something to spice it up? #pixelart
Quick and dirty re-sprite of this guy from Final Fantasy Adventure (original on the left) for practice developing this sprite style where it's still 16 pixels but foregoes facial features like eyes in order to have slightly more realistic proportions and an overall less square silhouette.. #pixelart
More than one person said this character struck them (lol) as a monk/martial arts/brawler archetype so here's an unpolished punching animation for the pink haired girl #pixelart #animation
Went for a different vibe for the character on the right. What do you think of this sprite style btw? Sprites around this size (about 16 pixels) tend to have large heads to allow for facial features at such a small size but end up super chibi/not having much room for the rest of the character design
Inside me there are two wolves, they both have silly anime hair/the "two" genders idk lol
I reworked the tiles and palette still just throwing things together to try to find a cohesive palette and vibe/aesthetic, also played around with a new sprite. (I heavily referenced the lovely looking upcoming game Kloa Child of the Forest for the parts of the background/tileset)
the background is mostly modified/placeholder assets right now, just trying to put some things together to play around with ideas and vibes and get a good color palette where the sprite stands out from the background. Also trying out a lower resolution than I have before (160x90!) #pixelart
some low resolution color pixel art practice. I didn't spend much time on the animation obviously, it's only two frames and not very smooth but sharing things with a little bit of movement always seems more likely to catch the eye. 16 pixel sprite on a 160x90 canvas. #pixelart
