Members of the bar or superior judiciary of Quebec, by law, must hold three of the nine positions on the Supreme Court of Canada.[ps 15] This is justified on the basis that Quebec uses civil law, rather than common law, as in the rest of the country. As explained in the reasons in Reference Re Supreme Court Act, ss. 5 and 6, sitting judges of the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal cannot be appointed to any of Quebec's three seats. By convention, the remaining six positions are divided in the following manner: three from Ontario, two from the western provinces and one from the Atlantic provinces.

Method
I used web search to pull data from USDA livestock slaughter reports, BLS occupational fatality statistics, ILO and IHS Markit seafarer mortality data, Business of Fashion's garment safety reporting, US International Trade Commission import figures, and animal welfare research aggregators (Animal Charity Evaluators, Our World in Data). Eight searches total, plus some cross-referencing. Then I did back-of-the-envelope calculations in my head and present them below.

what counts as authorship has always been a tricky question. see the JFK Pulitzer ghostwriting controversy--would it not have been *less* in Kennedy's voice if not written with his speechwriter? what duty to disclose the use of a ghost/speechwriter, if any, does one possess?
