Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender (2026) Feels a little Anime-Original Movie at some points, but otherwise I really enjoyed seeing the Gaang all grown up. The highlights are the beautiful animation and Bautista's surprisingly good villain. And it deserved to be watched in theatres. 8/10
Vanilla Sky (2001) Probably one of the craziest movies I've seen in a while, with one of the more hammier performances by Tom Cruise. Without giving too much away, it really hooks you in the second half, with one crazy twist after another. Might be a bit too much for some, but it worked on me 7/10

Happy 100th movie! Be Kind Rewind (2008) The three leads are mostly very likeable and have great chemistry. And the scene of their hilariously cheap remakes are obviously the highlight of the film. The actual plot doesn't quite match up however, even with some fun bits of comedy throughout. 6/10
A Prophet (2009) Who doesn't love a good Nobody to Nightmare story? Seeing Malik grow from a servant under the cruel César's thumb to someone worthy of respect is very captivating. Helped greatly by the two incredible lead performances and plenty of gripping drama and action. 8/10
The Odyssey (2026) …Okay, yeah that was incredible! I was skeptical but Nolan knocked it out of the park. The cinematography, the pacing and the way it adapts the Odyssey is truly phenomenal. Looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous on the big screen. Better than I could've hoped. 10/10

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) Only the Coen would think to combine The Odyssey and Depression era Mississippi and make it this good! Incredible leads, beautiful music and quotable from start to finish. One of the most creative and fun adaptations I've seen in a while. 9/10
Time Bandits (1981) Terry Gilliam. For all your faults, you made some fine movies. Time Bandits is a delight, held together by incredible sets, great practical effects and loads of fun humour. Great cast too, with David Warner as Evil undoubtedly being the highlight of them all. 7/10
Baby Assassins (2021) Has some really bad CGI blood and is slow at parts, but otherwise, this was fun. The two leads are a lot of fun with great chemistry with each other, and when the action starts, it’s some electrifying stuff. Definitely got me hooked to see the other two films. 7/10

Masters of The Universe (2026) Sadly Skeletor was the best part in the whole movie. The rest was honestly pretty good. I rolled my eyes at the cringey attempts at humour and self-deprecation, but the soundtrack, action and practical effects were genuinely wonderful. I had a lot of fun. 6/10
Volver (2006) A truly remarkable movie from Spain about three generations of Women dealing with death, family secrets and sexual abuse. With an almost entirely female cast, filled with great performances, it's an incredible bittersweet absurdist drama that's well worth your time. 8/10
La La Land (2016) A simply beautiful film. Has some of the coolest cinematography I've seen in a while, with electrifying musical numbers, beautiful dancing and a charming leading duo with wonderful chemistry. That whole ending was a beautiful, emotional stab to the heart. 9/10
Toy Story 5 (2026) Much better than it has any right to be. TY2 was my favourite of the films, so this was a big treat for me. Loved seeing Jessie getting the spotlight, Bonnie's arc was great and the Toys vs Tech stuff was incredibly well handled. Honestly wouldn't mind a full Bonnie trilogy 9/10
It’s Such a Beautiful Day (2012) Who knew a movie about stick figures could be so powerful? A harrowing and moving look inside the mind of a man slowly dying and losing his mind through mental degeneration. Incredible visuals despite the seemingly simplistic art style. Especially at the end. 9/10
Napoleon Dynamite (2004) Not sure what I expected, but can see why this is so memorable. Might not have much story, and maybe not uproarious funny, but the iconic characters and insanely quotable lines make it worth the watch. 7/10
The Celluloid Closet (1996) A very informative and bittersweet documentary, about homosexuality in movies. How it's started, how they snuck it in, how it's evolved and how important it is even to this day. A loving tribute to gay movies the started it all. 9/10 Happy Pride Month everybody.
Labyrinth (1986) Happy 40th Anniversary to a certified banger! Some of the Jim Henson Company's finest puppets, simply fantastic sets and an unforgettable performance by David Bowie. Story might not be spectacular, but it more than makes up for it. Required viewing for any fantasy fans. 8/10
Edward Scissorhands (1990) Was not expecting to love this movie as much as I did. A visual spectacle that only Tim Burton in his prime could bring to life, this was a lovely modern fairy tale, carried by a loveable innocent lead and a surprising amount of heart and tragedy. 9/10
All That Jazz (1979) Didn't hit quite as hard as it does for a lot of people, but I can't deny the mastery on display. The musical numbers are stunning, Roy Scheider's performance is immaculate and you can feel Bob Fosse's reflection throughout, as he contemplates his life and death. 8/10
Spirited Away (2001) Rewatched in loving memory of Daveigh Chase. Still Studio Ghibli's masterpiece. A beautiful, emotional and heartfelt coming of age story, by the master of Hayao Miyazaki. And has a magnificent English dub too. May Daveigh Chase Rest in Peace (1990-2026) 10/10

Just Mercy (2019) A powerfully moving adaptation of an important true story, from the incredible up and coming director Destin Daniel Cretton. Jordan and Foxx both bring their A game, though Rob Morgan was honestly the highlight for me. The ending had me in tears. 8/10
