Club Cerro Corá were one of the oldest football clubs in Paraguay. Their golden era came in the 1990s, where they finished runners up in the Division of Honour and won the 1993 Torneo República. Sadly, after the turn of the millenium, the club went into free fall, and they dissolved in 2021.

On this day in 1947, FK Vardar were formed in Skopje, North Macedonia - then part of Yugoslavia. The club were founded in by merging city rivals FK Pobeda and FK Makedonija. They are one of North Macedonia's most successful clubs. Their name comes from the Vardar cinema, where they were formed.
Did you know that David 'Bumble' Lloyd was once a team mate of George Best? "I said tactically to the manager in the dressing room, 'What tactics are we playing?' He said, 'Well, if ever you get it, just give it to George.' So I did!"

Last night, the Barrow 125 exhibition launched in the Dock Museum in Barrow-in-Furness. The exhibition celebrates 125 years of the club, but also highlights how important Barrow AFC has been to the town since they founded and vice versa. They are interlinked. The exhibition closes in September.
Lisbon, 1967. Stevie Chalmers scores the winner against Helenio Herrera’s Inter Milan in the European Cup final. This is the greatest moment in the history of Celtic Football Club, and informs much of the identity of supporters today.

On this day in 1901, Barrow AFC were formed. At their first meeting in the Drill Hall in the Strand, their first chairman “, referring to the workers in Barrow’s shipyards, declared that "they must have a senior football team or nothing at all.” Small but mighty. Happy anniversary, Barrovians! 🔵⚪️

Falkirk have revealed their new away kit and with it the return of the Highlander badge! The Highlander badge originally appeared on Falkirk kits in 1957. The Highlander on the badge is a nod to the Battle of Falkirk which took place in 1746. One of the best revamps of a historic badge we've seen!

In the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, Diego Maradona's Argentina were humiliated by Bolivia. Including a hat trick from Joaquín Botero, Bolivia crushed their visitors 6-1 at high altitude. It was Argentina's worst defeat in 60 years, and is one of the biggest shocks in South American football.
Luis Monti played professional football for four club sides in his career - Huracán, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo and Juventus. But not only did he play for both Argentina and Italy at international level, he is unique in that he played in the World Cup final for two different nations.

On this day in 1867, Queen’s Park, the oldest club in Scotland, were formed. They became the dominant club in Scotland’s early football scene, and are central to the story of football in Scotland and the world. To this day they remain the 5th most successful club in Scotland by honours won.
