Getting some free flood mitigation and aquifer replenishment from a few volunteers in town. The town built a series of catchments to limit how far the beavers could back up the water, but it mostly leaves them alone to do their thing. We all benefit.
I've gotten pretty good at making my own but you do have to plan at least one day ahead. Yesterday's effort:

As far as I am aware this is the one of only a few floating outhouses in the state of Oregon. It is operated by the Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB). I hereby offer to contact them and suggest renaming it in his, uh, honor.
Speaking of police presence, we were on the pedestrian overpass on rte 99 and a police car pulled up right before the overpass, stopping traffic, and gave us a burst of siren and the overheads and came on the loudspeaker: "There is a dog in the green jeep in the YMCA parking lot..."
Today's home made: ice cream with a rich custard base, browned butter and dulce de leche flavor, dusted with crushed home made espresso brittle. I think it's my best yet.
Today's home made: Neapolitan style crust, mozzarella, romano, pepperoni, jalapeno, and onion.
Today's home made: rich custard base infused with chai spice (green cardamom, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper) sweetened with Bonne Maman apricot jam and brown sugar, topped with shards of apple cider vinegar/pecan/chipotle brittle. So good.
