One new arrival this week… This is the first issue of Compile’s “Disc Station” for MSX, released in 1988. Across two disks there’s a bunch of demos, including a special version of Aleste with unique level arrangements and bonus full game, 1983’s Megalopolis SOS.
I like to bookend my last four watches with fancy equines these days
Wow wow wow… The latest episode of X-Men 97. I don’t think anything onscreen has ever captured the magic, the drama or the relevance of the comics as much as this one episode. Simply brilliant.
The oldest thing I’ve seen him in is Joby, a TV drama set and filmed in my hometown. It was made 51 years ago. Not much hair…
Can’t believe my four year old did this perfectly first time!
It used to be a Mac Mini. It’s long since been changed to a MorphOS machine! gamesfromtheblackhole.wordpress.com/2023/07/23/t...
Was thrilled to see Chamber in X-Men 97 this week. Not sure what surprises me more: seeing him crop up on the show, or learning that this is the first time this 32 year old character has appeared on-screen at all!
I played some Hole In One Professional last night and it’s really impressive. The whole course scrolls from one hole to the next, no cutting away, the sprite details are lovely, it has trackball support and a level editor. Programmed by none other than Satoru Iwata.
The new Rhythm Heaven is out on Friday! It has somehow been TEN years since the last one. My daughter and I played the demo today. It’s new to her, familiar to me, and we both had a blast. She struggled with the timing and giggled when she got it right. Joyous.
One new arrival this week… It’s very good! Reminiscent of so many of my favourite action RPGs… Zelda, Ys, Mana… with bags of its own personality too.
No new arrivals this week, so here’s something beloved from the collection…
This week’s new arrivals. (Two of these bought at the videogame market in Sheffield this afternoon)
Hello new followers! If you see something you like in this photo then I’ve got a blog for you! I’ve covered obscure MSX games, cult RPG series, point n click adventures, score attack arcade games, and more. All covered through a highly subjective personal lens… gamesfromtheblackhole.wordpress.com
It is confusing, mind. That colour scheme does scream NES Batman.
Ah but is it though? The Sunsoft Batman was released in 1989 and the description says 1986, so I assume this is a reference to Jon Ritman & Bernie Drummond’s Batman on the Spectrum…
One new arrival this week… I’ve had great fun playing this with my daughter. The puzzles are so playful and reward experimentation so much that you can kind of play “co-op” with a kid suggesting clever things to try out.
