A geeky girl with an interest in reading and writing among other things. I like playing computer games, including action games, RTS, turn based strategy and some RPG. I also build and paint miniatures (I don't play games, just collect them). She/Her - 29
5 - Force inspired by the Vraks Renegade Militia style force (not necessarily corrupted by Chaos, just similar gear and weapons). Essentially a more siege focused force, with some infantry, artillery and support vehicles. Perhaps some ogryns and such as heavier infantry.
4 - Armoured infantry force, based on Stargrave Troopers or Anvil Industry armoured parts. This would focus on mechanised forces, with lots of armour support, to make sure the heavily armoured soldiers can get to the front line in no time.
3 - Basic Cadian style force with some of the heads replaced in order to have a mixed gender force, as the older cadians didn't have women. It would mostly be a general purpose force, no specialisation in a specific type of warfare, so lots of vehicles, infantry and support.
2 - A urban force consisting mostly of Praetorian styles troops and some specialists, mostly equipped for skirmishes and other kinds of shorter range encounters. Some longer range units for holding positions and artillery support.
1 - Desert style force, focused on a mix of sharpshooters, mechanised forces with transports and infantry, as well as a variety of light recon forces.
Last evening I varnished the 8 long boxes, so now I will continue to work on the campfires. I am hoping to get most of the painting done today or over the weekend (fires will need several layers, so can't do it all at once). #miniatures #tabletop #nerdlings #minipainting
Yesterday I applied the varnish to the square boxes, so they are ready to be used as scatter terrain on any battlefield. Green mud was used to make it look like there is some moss growing along the sides of the boxes, as if something leaked out. #miniatures #tabletop #nerdlings #minipainting
For me, the biggest in terms of the number of minis inside was obviously the Battle in a Box from Perry Miniatures. Just in terms of infantry it contains 145 models! In terms of actual weight/amount of plastic I think the biggest was the Military Compound from Mantic, that was a really heavy box.
I remember discussing flyers and VTOL's with someone here some weeks ago and so I decided to take a picture of one of VTOL's I painted. It is basically a cheap toy with some small parts from Mantic (the weapons), as well as some bits here and there. #miniatures #tabletop #nerdlings #minipainting
These parade parts from the Grimdark Empire kickstarter gave me an interesting idea about potentially making a diorama where the soldiers are capturing a point like in Dawn of War, with a flag on a column and the soldiers around it, saluting the flag or something similar.
The long wooden boxes have the first layer of paint done. This evening I should do the second layer and try the varnish on the test piece, since the paint on the test piece should be completely dry by then. If the varnish looks great on the test piece, I will varnish the square boxes next #nerdlings
Last evening I painted the second layer on the square boxes. If you ever doubted whether I actually made 20 of these or if was just posting the boxes from different angles, now you have the guarantee that wasn't the case 😁 This evening I am going to seal the long boxes. 1/2 #nerdlings
Last evening I continued to paint the square boxes with the wood paint. After the first layer this is what they look like. I will try to add the second layer of paint this evening. As you can see the paint is a bit glossy, so I will need to get a matte varnish to finish them. #nerdlings
Based on comments on the campaign (from the owner), it is unlikely there will be any heavy weapon teams with women (less popular apparently), but looking at the parts of things like the missile launchers, it should be possible to convert some, so it is still an option for the most part. #nerdlings
In my case, as you might have noticed I have the tendency to reuse things, even garbage and turning it into something different. Still, I think one of the best examples of what I do is this cheap doll house. Can you believe the roof was originally pink?
Added the flames last evening, so for the moment this small diorama is done, at least until I get to painting. I will put the sealant on the square boxes this evening and then try to varnish them. If it goes well, I will do the same to the other wooden bits 😊 #nerdlings
Made some more progress on the stools and on the cooking station. Only the flames are missing now. #nerdlings
Some progress from the last 2 evenings. I have been working on something similar to a Fallout cooking station, with a pig being rotated over the fire. The pig is not perfect but it is actually better than I expected and since meat deforms as it cooks, it should be fine for its use. 1/2 #nerdlings
So early and everything is already orange (in the afternoon it will get far worse). Can you believe it that even though we have been getting temperatures close to 40ºC the government issues at most yellow warnings over temperature? I just hope the heat ends soon.
Lately I have been working on some scatter terrain, in particular some campfires. The flames aren't exactly great, but they should look ok once painted.
Last evening I finished the last of the long wooden boxes and I started with some small campfires. I am planning to add some sort of small flame using milliput, lets see how that goes. I am planning to make a larger piece of terrain with some meat cooking over the fire as well. #nerdlings
Last evening I finished the 7th and started on the 8th and last box. I decided to take a photo of them side by side, so you can see how the internal structure of the long boxes looks like. This evening I should finish the last box and start some smaller scatter terrain bits. #nerdlings
The 6th long wooden box was finished last evening. 2 more boxes and then I should make some remains from a fire or campfire with the rest of the burnt matches. #nerdlings
Fifth long wooden box done. I think I should have enough bits to make at least 8 of these. One interesting thing I just thought about, based on a reply I got yesterday, what I could use some of the smaller burnt bits to make some sort of pyre or the remains of a small fire. #nerdlings
Another day, another long box done 😊 In other news, the weekly question is still open, in case you want to participate. #nerdlings
Well I have painted quite a lot of miniatures since I started in the hobby, but the one I really felt proud when I was done with it was the giantess from Archon Studios. I didn't get the eyes right, but overall it is a model that I can check from up close with pride 😊
One more long wooden box done, bringing the total to 3. I am not sure yet how many more boxes I will make, but I have cut 6 cardboard bases in total, so I should make at least 6. #nerdlings
Lets start this with something different! Post something fast 🏍️🏎️ #nerdlings
Another day, another long box done! I am still not sure how many of these I will make, but likely I will not make as many of these as I did with the relatively square ones (20). Tomorrow there should be a weekly question as usual, so watch this space 😊 #nerdlings
Last evening I finished the last 2 relatively square boxes, bringing the total to 20. I also finished the prototype for the long boxes. It is not perfect, but I have managed to improve the construction a bit on the second one that I should finish this evening. #nerdlings
