We’re investing $2.75 million to help 30 organizations strengthen food security across King County. These capital grants will improve food bank facilities, expand food storage, purchase refrigerated delivery vehicles, and help community partners serve more neighbors.

Today, I announced that King County has been awarded a $15 million grant to support crisis intervention training, gun violence prevention, and other community safety initiatives.

One of my priorities is to stand up a team dedicated to being out in the community every day across all 39 cities & unincorporated areas. From supporting local leaders to connecting people with services, our new Community Service and Response team works side by side with residents to solve problems.

Today, we rolled out a new executive order to help break the cycle of homelessness, addiction, & incarceration — with housing at the center. This order launches our Breaking the Cycle Initiative to better align housing, health, and public safety systems.

What a historic day! The Crosslake Connection begins a new chapter for our region, bringing east and west King County closer than ever before with fast, reliable transit. And for the first time anywhere on the planet, we will have a train crossing over a body of water on a floating bridge.

Let’s fix King County roads and bridges damaged by the December floods. Our proposal would temporarily redirect existing Real Estate Excise Tax (REET2) dollars to repair and restore safe access for our communities. I’m looking forward to working with the County Council to move this forward.

Thank you to our incredible King County staff for their heroic efforts during the historic flooding our region faced over the past couple months. Yesterday, we brought many of them together at our Emergency Operations Center in Renton, where I delivered a proclamation honoring their service.
