This video shows the abandoned and devastated city of Bakhmut in June 2026. Not a single resident remains, and every residential building has been left uninhabitable.
💔 Just five years ago, Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast was a thriving Ukrainian city of around 70,000 people, known for its salt mines, sparkling wine production, and bustling streets. Today, Russia has destroyed it.
I spent this weekend in Odesa. Russia attacks the city almost every day with drones and missiles, targeting its port infrastructure and forcing people to live under the constant threat of air raids. Yet life goes on.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 I hope the U.S. and Ukrainian Presidents will discuss strengthening our kinetic sanctions against Russian oil refineries and reinforcing Ukraine’s air defenses, including more Patriot PAC-3 missiles and, crucially, a license for Ukraine to produce them domestically.
🇺🇦🫂 Every day at 9:00 a.m., Ukraine pauses for a nationwide minute of silence. Even on trains, people stand up to honor those who have fallen in this terrible war. It is one of the most powerful reminders of the price Ukrainians pay for freedom every single day.
🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day, America! The only time I visited the United States, more than two years ago, I was struck by the scale and greatness of this country. Not only by its cities, roads, universities, or institutions, but by the feeling of a nation that knows how to think in big categories:
