Safer communities start with the people who answer the call. New Mexico has invested $90M million to recruit, train and retain public-safety professionals, iincluding a 55% average increase in state police base pay and support that has helped hire 400+ officers across 29 departments.

New Mexico’s clean-energy transition is also an economic development strategy. The state set a goal of reaching 50% renewable electricity by 2030. In 2025, New Mexico surpassed that target five years early, with renewable energy accounting for 52% of electricity generation.

Every child deserves to be a reader. In New Mexico, we're making it happen more than ever before. We've retrained teachers, invested in proven methods, and watched nearly half our students reach grade-level reading. And we're not stopping for summer. Sign them up before spots fill!

When a child can't live with their parents, extended family often steps in. New Mexico’s Kinship Caregiver Pilot Program — launched in November 2025 in Rio Arriba and San Juan Counties — is now helping 71 families with $500 a month so they can focus on the kids, not the bills.

New Mexico is making serious progress on child poverty and the numbers prove it. According to the latest U.S. Census data, New Mexico made the biggest strides in the nation in reducing child poverty rates thanks to universal healthy free lunches, universal child care, and more. And we're not done!

Winter's not done with us yet, New Mexico. Late-season snow returns to the northern mountains late today through Friday. Expect 4–14" of heavy, wet snow — mainly above 9,000 feet — with the Sangre de Cristos taking the brunt of it.
