Health Care for All Oregon
@healthcareforallor
HCAO is a nonpartisan, 501c3 nonprofit that has been focused on universal heath care, for every Oregon resident for the last 25 years.
Who do you think should be on the makeup of the new Universal Health Plan Governance Board? If the dominoes all fall into place, (1. the plan is completed, 2. our legislators refer it to Oregon voters, 3. we vote to implement this transition) then the current UHPGB will become a new governing body.
The deadline for the Governance Board to deliver their plan back to our Oregon elected officials is this September. Between now and September 15th, there are 5 more meetings where you can submit your public comments. Us at HCAO have seen public comments make positive improvements in the structure.
Send a message to our state legislators. The Universal Health Plan Governance Board has been working for years to develop a transition plan for our state to move to a universal healthcare system. Signing this petition encourages our OR legislators to prioritize Oregon's potential transition.
Nobody is talking about how your comments helps Oregon move to Universal Health Care. Tell the Board what you expect out of a new universal health care system in the form of public comment. Register to speak over Zoom 24 hours in advance. Submit your public comments at oregon.gov/uhpgb.

Part 3 - June meeting summary Oregon's Universal Health Plan Governance Board is working to deliver a transition plan for an Oregon Universal Health Plan. All of their meetings are open to the public. They really want to hear from Oregonians about what you need to see in a Universal Health Plan.
What kind of care can Oregonians expect in a new Universal Health Plan for every resident? The same level of care that our current state employees and elected officials currently enjoy under the PEBB program, the Public Employees Benefit Board.
"It shouldn't be something that we bargain. It shouldn't be something that we have to negotiate." The Portland Chapter had a fantastic Art Auction this January. This event was a great way to connect with local creators, healthcare leaders, and community members like this fella (and his mom).
Sign our petition today. Let our legislators know that Oregon's Universal Health Care transition is a PRIORITY. Oregon is uniquely placed as having the best chance to be the the first state to move to universal health care. Let's make sure they give this issue attention in the 2027 session.
Every Oregonian deserves Healthcare. The job market is pretty rough out there. Having our healthcare directly related to our employment doesn't make any sense. We stay in jobs for this "benefit " of healthcare , which is a human right that needs to be available to all without arbitrary limits.
Oregon is on track to be the first state in the country to transition to universal healthcare. We are the first and only state with a constitutional amendment guaranteeing healthcare as a fundamental right. Our state also has a Universal Health Plan Governance Board, delivering their plan in Sept.
"Everyone spent more. And I was in pain the whole time." Delays and denials can increase overall cost, and lower quality of life . For this Portlander, the delays and denials of surgery to mitigate a back injury took longer than necessary.
We spoke with some Portlanders on the street about the idea of universal healthcare. When asked about the goal and the idea of a potential change to this new system. The idea that this work or this transition could be expanded across the country, and towards other countries makes a lot of sense.
TELL THE BOARD WHAT YOU NEED. There are only 5 more meetings of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board before their September 15th deadline to delver their transition plan to the Oregon legislature. REGISTER TO SPEAK 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE July 16th August 20th July 22nd August 26th July 23rd
It is time for Universal Healthcare. When we fight, we win. River with East Portland Indivisible spoke with us at our rally at Dawson Park, as part of our Seven Days in June Events. "We have all watched family members struggle with health insurance bills, approvals, and appeals."
Everyone is going to feel the effects of these Medicaid funding cuts. When people loose their health insurance, they STILL have medical needs. When people who have been avoiding care because of cost finally make it to the Emergency Room, they end up with much more expensive care.
Health Care for All Oregon wants to become a sponsor of Oregon Public Broadcasting. Your contribution today will go towards our organization supporting OPB as a sponsor, allowing our name to be mentioned in sponsorship acknowledgements across the airwaves in Oregon.
Kimber from the Portland Chapter walks us through how Cleve Jones played a role in navigating the AIDS pandemic with Harvey Milk. Seven Days in June was a national week of Action coordinated by Cleve Jones. At our Healthcare not Wealthcare Rally with East Portland Indivisible.
America's supposed to be the greatest country in the world, so why is medical care so much easier in other countries? We chatted with folks on the streets of downtown Portland, and asked some pretty straightforward questions. Do you want universal healthcare? Why?
We need universal healthcare for a functional society. Universal Healthcare would improve the lives of the Oregonians that are served by For All Families Oregon (FAFO) @forallfamiliesoregon We need healthier, more functional children to grow up to be healthier, more functional adults.
It's hard to believe, but its true. Oregon is the closest state to reaching the goal of a universal healthcare system for every resident. No, Massachusetts does not have universal healthcare. Neither does Hawaii or Vermont.
It's hard to wrap your heat around WHY our healthcare costs in America are so much higher than in other countries. We at HCAO know why. The for-profit healthcare system, has led to this atmosphere of claim denials, mistrust and confusion. Oregonians want universal healthcare.
3.8 million dollars for 4 years of treatment. We asked several people on the street in Portland about their healthcare stories. For this father, the journey of his son's treatment included traveling to Switzerland, and Iowa State University for his son's specialized care.
Anne Marie from Rep Farrah Chaichi's office @repfarrahchaichi asked a question at our Hillsboro Town Hall Q&A this past April. It's pretty telling that our Oregon Legislative Leaders chose to ask this question: How can their offices support the work of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board?
