We all want a stable trading relationship with the US. But we cannot build Canada’s economy around the whims of an unpredictable American President. We need to protect workers’ rights, reform EI so it supports people when they need it, and match tariffs, including on energy, as necessary.
Door knocking in the amazing Avonmore community with this delightful crew of volunteers. Healthcare privitization, the separatism referendum, and support for seniors were top of mind with folks I spoke to tonight. Those issues are key priorities for me too.
What a beautiful sunny day to be out with neighbours and community members supporting Trisha Estabrooks as she seeks the NDP nomination for Edmonton Strathcona. Congratulations, Trisha! You’re amazing and I know Edmonton Strathcona will be well represented by you in the Legislature!
Honoured to stand with Ontario NDP MPPs and the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment to oppose the dangerous expansion of Billy Bishop Airport. Mark Carney and Toronto’s 25 Liberal MPs need to show up and defend Torontonians instead of siding with Doug Ford.
Thank you to everyone in Royal Gardens (and across Edmonton Strathcona) who popped by my ice cream social this evening. Meeting constituents and hearing what’s on your mind is one of my favourite parts of my job. I’ll be hosting events like this all summer. Come say hello! I’d love to see you.
30 minutes trudging up to the pass of a windy, snow covered mountain 👎 30 seconds sliding down the other side 🤙
Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary to these adorable oldies. To celebrate they (very impressively at 84 and 83 years old) hiked to the top of Stoney Mountain with their children and grandchildren.
So great to see so many friends, including my incredible colleagues from the ABNDP, at the Equal Voice reception at the Calgary Stampede. Our democracy is stronger when women are at every decision making table. Here’s to continuing the work together. 💜
Nothing says Sunday at Stampede like pancakes, coffee, and good conversations. It was great to kick off the day with friends, neighbours, and colleagues at the Alberta NDP annual pancake breakfast. Here’s to building a stronger, kinder, more progressive Alberta together, one pancake at a time. 🥞🧡💪
Pancakes and workers rights! Perfect combination. Great to join folks at the Carpenters’ Local 2103 for their annual Stampede pancake breakfast. Lots of great conversations, including lots of support for my Private Members Bill stopping fake unions from undermining workers rights.
Every year the Ismaili Muslim Community pancake breakfast is a highlight of Stampede. Seeing so many friends and community members celebrating our diverse and beautiful province is heartwarming. Shout out to Mayor Farkas for his important speech on unity and belonging.
Calgary Stampede is off to a great start! Fun times with my Stampede posse watching the very cool and entertaining Canadian band, Elliott Brood - we even got to meet the singer, Mark Sasso. 🧡🤠 #yahoo #calgarystampede
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Ice Cream Socials today. It was a joy to spend time with neighbours, friends, and families celebrating the amazing country we share. Days like today remind me that we’re stronger when we come together. Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
Happy Canada Day! Join me for a chat and a frozen treat to celebrate.
Honoured to join New Democrats at the nomination meeting for Brooks Arcand Paul. Brooks is one of the most intelligent & kind individuals I have ever met and he is also now the NDP nominated candidate for Edmonton West Henday! Congratulations Brooks. Your constituents are lucky to have you. 🧡
Canada is through! 🇨🇦⚽️ With an incredible goal in stoppage time Canada wins their first ever knockout game. This team keeps making Canadians so proud. On to the next round. Let’s go, Canada! #FIFAWorldCup
Congratulations to Team Canada Men's National Soccer Team for advancing to the knockout round in the World Cup for the first time ever! Tough loss today but a great comeback. We'll all be watching and cheering the historic match on Sunday afternoon. #GoCanadaGo
Around the world, democracy is under attack: disinformation, foreign interference, shrinking civil society, & social media that sows disinformation. As an Albertan, I know what it looks like when division is used as a political strategy. Democracy won’t defend itself. It’s up to us to do the work.
My husband is an incredible father to our children, and I’m so grateful for the love and steadiness he brings to our family. I’m also lucky to have a funny, supportive dad and brothers who are great dads too. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandads, uncles, and father figures.
On National Indigenous Peoples Day, we celebrate the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. But celebration without truth is not enough. Reconciliation means honouring Treaties, upholding Indigenous rights, implementing the Calls to Action, and respecting Indigenous self-determination.
When Trump launched his attacks on Iran by bombing a school and killing 160 children, the Prime Minister said he supported the war. Now, he claims that Trump's War in Iran was "worth it." Really? Thousands are dead, nothing has changed. @mark-carney.bsky.social, this war was NOT worth it!
Today, I stood w/ members of @cnca-rcrce.bsky.social to condemn the Liberal government’s decision to eliminate the office of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise. This decision is a betrayal of Canada’s commitment to human rights and corporate accountability. Restore the CORE now.
Congratulations @corblund.bsky.social, the @waternotcoalab.bsky.social volunteers, & the hundreds of thousands of Albertans who stood up for our Rocky Mountains & for our shared future. When governments refuse to listen, citizens will organize & make themselves impossible to ignore. #WaterNotCoal
Honoured to receive a commemorative coin marking the 10th anniversary of Vyshyvanka Day in Canada from Walter Palagniuk and the Vyshyvanka Association. Proud to stand with the people of Ukraine in their fight for democracy, human rights, sovereignty, and freedom. 🇺🇦 🇨🇦
Carney’s decision to kill the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise is a disgrace. When workers, Indigenous peoples, and communities raise concerns about human rights abuses linked to Canadian companies, they deserve accountability, not silence. heathermcpherson.ndp.ca/news/heather...
Last night’s attacks killed civilians, damaged homes, and set fire to the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Ukraine’s cultural and spiritual heritage. This is an attack not only on people, but on history itself. This is cultural genocide.
