This is Trooper Gilbert Fenion photographed around 1918. Gilbert joined the Scottish Horse regiment on the 28th of September 1914, he was 21 years old. Gilbert was a postman before joining the Scottish Horse.

A James Valentine Postcard of the Cross and fountain in Dunkeld, registered in 1885. The fountain is a memorial for the 6th Duke of Atholl, built in 1866.

A photograph of Birnam from an unusual angle! This image was captured by George Washington Wilson and captioned "Torwood near Birnam". It was entered in his catalogue by 1877 and features local buildings such as St Mary's tower which was demolished in the 1960s.

The reverse was captioned "Peace at last". Two Scottish horse soldiers photographed in Egypt, April 1943.

Primary 1 of the Royal School of Dunked circa 1964. The current Royal School of Dunkeld building was opened in 1930.

One of the Scottish Horse's tanks in the workshop for repair, photograph taken in the late 1940s (no exact date given). The tank appears to be either a Cromwell or a Comet but any identification help is always greatly appreciated.

⚽The 2026 Football World cup starts today!⚽ In honour of this momentous occasion we have a photograph of a Scottish Horse football team and their coaches photographed around the 1930s.

A James Valentine postcard showing Station Road, Birnam, around 1906. The Birnam Institute can be seen on the right of the image, now known as the Birnam Arts after the building of their extension which opened in 2001.

This week we have some photograph's from our collection belonging to Colonel William Brown (pictured here in uniform). Colonel Brown served with the 1/1st Scottish Horse Field Ambulance in Egypt, 1916 where these photographs were taken. These images range from "Archaeology" to chameleons snacking!

A Millar and Lang postcard showing Little Dunkeld, the Bridge and Tay Terrace. This postcard is undated but predates the building of the new A9 Bypass in the 1970s.

Sergeant Thompson Uppard was born in Hexham in 1891 and served with the 2/3rd Scottish Horse from the 23rd of March 1915 to the 29th of May 1919. He was promoted to Sergeant on the 29th of January 1916. The portrait has an added splash of colour including an interesting shade of peach for the lips..
