More pictures later, but for the moment, somebody clue me in: I’ve already seen three people wearing this costume today. @newenglandfancon.bsky.social
Less inertia to overcome than usual, I’m all set up at New England FanCon, but we don’t open until 10:00am! @newenglandfancon.bsky.social
It’s still too hot and humid, but there are people to see and a movie to catch in Bryant Park.
I’m harvesting tomatoes and cucumbers in what are usually only-flowers boxes on the deck, and I came across this gorgeous pollinator doing his thing. About four inches from tip to tip. #butterflies #brooklyn #backyardgarden
An old recipe I’ve never tried before, but the neighbor had extra bananas that are going fast, and thus: banana bread! #baking
Continuing my New York experiences, today is going to be Nepalese food (new to me). A dinner organized by a new Mensan who wanted to meet others.
Saturday was a house party with a magnificent 6’ x 9’ pool. Sunday was Coney Island with out-of-town friends. And now it’s Monday and I’m going to the movie in Bryant Park. Guess I really am living the New York life!
Walked a friend to Grand Central after the movie. Now headed back to Times Square and the subway home.
Hmm, it’s Monday. I must be headed in to Bryant Park for the movie!
In Times Square briefly, headed home after the first Bryant Park movie of the season.
I made it home (barely; miserable traffic), got the car unloaded, changed, and now I’m headed into to the season premiere movie at Bryant Park!
Heading home from my sister‘s house after Readercon. If traffic isn’t too terrible, I’m hoping to make it to the Bryant Park move this evening.
Forgot to post this yesterday, but it’s just as true today: the dealers’ room is open at Readercon. @readercon.bsky.social
Took a quick break— and gave Laurie a little break from us—and drove to New Hampshire for a presidential site visit. Also stopped at Hampton Beach. #franklinpierce #hamptonbeach
My second semiquincentennial quarter, in change at Market Basket in Wilmington, MA, just now. #numismatics #semiquincentennial #coincollecting
I realized I’ve been doing so regularly, but haven’t actually posted a restocking photo in quite a while. Screwy scheduling means that now is the best time to restock the Fantastic Books books in preparation for Readercon in July, New England FanCon in August, and DragonCon in September.
Sunday trip into Manhattan, dragging Mom and Dad to games day at the Hugh.
Just now at the post office, I got my first 2026 — or semiquincentennial — coin in change. Apparently not from a new roll, because the other quarter is older. Look closer, because at first glance, I thought it was a Virginia quarter. #numismatics #Semiquincentennial
Headed to Coney Island for the first time this year. #coneyisland
Just missed my train <moue>, so I’ll be on the next, because I’m going in to Manhattan for trivia. Who’s joining me?
Road trip to Massachusetts for some family time and the niece’s <gasp!> high school graduation.
Just glanced at the Amazon page for the Kindle edition of Resistance. It is listed as the #1 New Release in American Literature Anthologies. Woo hoo! www.amazon.com/dp/B0GZJL4F7W
All set up in the dealers’ room (the one on the right) at #Balticon. Of course, we don’t open until 2:00pm, but I’m ready for you!
Looking into the sun as I head out to my first sf convention since February! Headed to Baltimore for #Balticon with copies of #Resistance
Judging by the one-hot-day-followed-by-one-cold we’ve been having this year, I think this is my latest “first day working outside” ever.
