happy wip Wednesday, here is an excerpt from an upcoming #jayvik fic I'm writing, a love/hate letter to the grueling STEM industry <3

He’s in his fifth conversation accepting empty compliments about his status as Keynote Speaker when he finally spots Viktor several booths down. And his brain short circuits.

Viktor looks good. Like really good. His brown hair is grown out, half of it pinned back, revealing blond hair underneath. His cheeks are sharp as always, and shockingly full of color. He wears a purple sweater over a white dress shirt, and he appears to be in a thoughtful conversation with someone from—Jayce squints at the sign—Fissures National Labs.

The man in front of him is still talking. Jayce nods at him and reaches out to shake. “I’m so sorry, but you’ll have to excuse me.” He ignores the huff of indignance he receives in return. He maneuvers himself through the crowd, careful not to go too fast. Viktor spots him when he’s ten feet away, and he makes no move towards him. This close Jayce can see his cane (not crutches?) draped eloquently across his forearm. His head spins wiith questions.
