She authored or co-authored more than 130 publications and edited several books, most notably Spatio-Temporal Patterns in Nonequilibrium Complex Systems (1995).
Remarkable point-like defects called nematic monopoles emerge at the junctions between these escape configurations. This discovery opened up a rich area of topological physics and continues to inspire research to this day.
