Visited this kid today at MOTU. My cheeks hurt from smiling. I caught myself actually clapping at the onscreen action. I was emotional. I was four years old jumping on the bed. I was eight playing with my toys. And I was my late-40s self who understood those other two in a way I hadn’t before.
He also had a soft spot for @mad.magazine too. So you can imagine my delight when I read my Rick and Morty collaborator @kibblesmith.com wrote this magnificent Plastic Man story in the DC Comics Mad special that released this week. That book is WILD. Congrats, Daniel! Plasty cracked me up!
When I was a kid and teenager, my dad basically hated superheroes, spurred by Satanic Panic & heroes’ general wokeness. There was a major exception, though. Plastic Man. He read Plastic Man when he was a kid in the 40s and 50s and always cracked up about him. He also had a soft spot for Mad Magazine
Years ago, said on a podcast that I hated the phrase “aspiring writer”. It was memed and stuff but over time it was incorrectly attributed to Jack Black, which I get, but still makes me 🤦♂️.

In celebration of Michelle’s birthday, we did our favorite thing: seeing theatre in NYC. When we saw Michelle’s fav Broadway star Jeremy Jordan and our friend Isa Briones were starring in Just In Time, we HAD to go. Jeremy and Isa are incredible in it. Was so great to see her after the show too.
For my almost-47 years of life, I wanted the UFO files released. But now…I’m just tired. So tired.

One of the best things I’ve ever written was this middle grade novel about Batman facing Man-Bat and Poison Ivy. Godspeed to the writer who defined Man-Bat, and SO much more in the DCU, Gerry Conway who passed away. We ALL stand on your shoulders.
Even if it was real, it’s so sad that we, as a country—world—can’t be 100% sure.

While my wife and kids are across the country this weekend, I decided to experiment with Sunday dinner. Grilled lemon-paprika salmon, mint peas, and angel hair pasta in an herb sauce. It. Is. Delicious. 🤤
