My daughter has been making me Jimothy art and it fills my heart.
Update on Stadacona Park: Folks will recall that an arsonist destroyed the playground at Stadacona this past spring. Thanks to a community fundraiser (thanks Mark, Johanna, and Amira!) and our Parks Reserve Fund, the playground will be rebuilt this fall. Renderings below of the new equipment. #yyj
So very happy that my daughter Mia joined us at Pride this year, on the City float. Thank you to the organizers at the Pride Society! #loveislove 🌈
Get Growing is the hugely successful gardening program run by the City of Victoria. Last year we distributed 93,000 seedlings and helped 12,000 with food security and gardening opportunities.
I’m here at City Hall with Nick Luney, the president of the Victoria Pride Society, Mayor Alto, and other councillors and staff to raise the Pride flag. The raising of the flag begins our festivities in an extended Pride Week, culminating with the parade on July 12th.
My buddy made it to the big Canada-South Africa game in LA. I’m mega jealous. 🇨🇦 🍁 ⚽️ 💥
Lime e-bikeshare coming to Victoria this July!! There will be 200 docking locations and nearly 1,000 bikes. The system is meant to meet the needs of locals. Lime will pay the city an annual fee and it otherwise costs us nothing. 3 payment options. Bikes capped at 25 k/h. Helmets included.
I was thinking about that bamboo bollard today, from Japan. It just really spoke to me.
The budget crunch this year meant that the City had to scale back on our hanging basket program. Thanks to donors and Destination Greater Victoria, $65k has now been raised, allowing the City to increase the number of hanging baskets downtown from 600 to 900. Thank you to all the donors!
Thank you to everyone who came out to my campaign launch event this weekend at Pinhalla. It was a positive vibe and gives me the inspiration to start campaigning and keep working hard for the residents of this region! Let’s go! Electjeremy.ca
They’ve also had one of the largest four-year increases across the CRD, but the media is too busy focusing on Langford.
I’m at the grand opening of the CRD’s Caledonia non-market housing development here in Fernwood. 158 affordable homes, including many 3- and 4-bedrooms. It’s right next door to transit, Vic High, services, and more. I’m delighted to meet my new neighbours!
I don’t know this person, but I find it amusing that she wants a “better direction for Victoria” while sitting on a wildly popular dock that the current council funded and installed in year 1 of the mandate. 🤔
If the other countries attempting to sell us submarines don’t have ultra dope beat boxers and breakdancers, then they might as well give up, because the Republic of Korea Navy has it on LOCKDOWN.
If you're interested in supporting my campaign for re-election to Victoria City Council and the CRD Board, then please join me and my team on May 31st!
Big day for B.C. Transit and mass transit ridership — our system now accepts tap (debit and credit) on buses provincewide!
Congratulations to the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre on 25 years of service, community, and celebration! Thank you for everything you do for the people of greater Victoria.
I’m excited to try out this new Japanese confectionary in downtown Victoria, on Broad and View.
Today’s a hard day at the CRD. My friend and colleague Lillian is no longer with us. There will be eulogies today and I will speak about her kindness, her collegiality, and love for her community.
This week, Council will debate a proposed bylaw that would require rental building owners to ensure that at least one room in a home can stay below 26C. We lost many vulnerable renters during the last heat dome and it cannot happen again. This would likely mean A/C or heat pumps.
