Important note: floor pedalboard is for guitar, which is a Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar (because I firmly believe what one pays for a guitar should closely align with one’s skill level)
Had a few freaks ask about our gear situation lately, which I'll never gatekeep. Here’s what I’m running (notes in alt). We’re performing our new LP Zone Poems in full down at Paradise Found tomorrow at 7. Come fly with us - it’s free!
If anyone plans to hit the Rockies game before the Prairiewolf gig this Saturday, I’ll trade you a Zone Poems LP for your hot dog hat.
I couldn’t be more excited that Prairiewolf is playing nothing but record stores and vintage shops this summer. Come for the wares, stay for the zones.
Pleasantly surprised by the Denis Johnson autograph inside this library copy of Fiskadoro. [h/t to @motherslug.bsky.social for the rec]
In the die-cut mood lately. The new BASIC (@chrisforsyth.bsky.social) is a knockout - nobody’s making music like this right now … or ever? Next level design from D. Norsen. The Jansch includes 6 charming alternate cover lithographs and sounds ace.
I’m equally thrilled to play tonight’s gig through a trio of tiny amps.
Dang nü country bros are out there looking like feed store mannequins come to life.
Scored a vintage Datsun camper shell down at the junkyard. Looking forward to summer nights spent jammin’ Thin Lizzy, sippin‘ light beer and restoring it.
The new Pet Sounds swag is very cheesy but the surfing goat shirt speaks to me.
If you roll up to the jazz trio gig and the guitarist looks like this, you’re about to die in the pit.
Not to make light of this passage from @andybeta.bsky.social’s phenomenal Alice Coltrane bio, but I’d REALLY like to know the name of the Coltrane family dog.

Talk about burying the lede… The official Miles IG account announces the first(?!) public listening session for Bear’s fabled 4/12/70 Fillmore West recording, though it’s buried 7 images deep and no further info is given.
Criminal how much of that sandstone backdrop is obscured by the current stage.
At least 15 distinct edits went into the title track. Amazing considering their precision and how Macero accomplished it all with a razor and tape. The most unhinged fact?: Macero didn’t perform these edits on a safety copy of the session reels, but sliced and spliced the MASTER TAPES! Madman!
The letter’s second page is wilder still, with Miles suggesting a few titles for the track, including: “MR. DAVIS RUNS IT DOWN" "LISTEN TO THIS" "LETS ALL BEAT UP JACK GOLD" I have no idea what Miles’ beef was with British film producer, Jack Gold… (2/2)
Happy Bitches Brew release day to all! The MD IG account shared a crucial previously unknown(?) letter from Miles to Teo Macero this morning, outlining extraordinarily specific cut n’ paste edits to the title track. Evidence that Miles got pretty deep into the weeds in the edit stage! (1/2)
When you operate a liquor store but vintage synthesizers are your passion.
