Tired but doting computer auntie.
It's not even 4pm but I'm ready to tempt fate and call today a great day: 🦴 got to see a cool imaging lab with cool bones and teeth in it 📖 the historical naval-cannibalism book I preordered show up 🏺 zero breakages bisque firing my most recent weird pottery
Brought home some pottery to work on at home and there will be no points awarded for guessing what happened next.
A buddy of mine was in N. Macedonia and brought me back a used erotic short story collection from the 80s. Machine translation and my stubbornness are revealing this to be the least sexy book I have ever encountered. It’s a marvel.
I don’t have definitive evidence but it seems that one of my cats* has helpfully wrenched the down arrow off my keyboard and yote it into the aether. *almost definitely Blink
Battersea Children’s Zoo has rare breed baby piglets right now and you can book to give them snacks and pet them. Or, as I opted to, steal their little piggy noses.
Repeating “don’t be weird today” to myself on my walk to pottery class like a mantra and winding up with this.
It's been hot enough that we've set up a portable aircon unit to keep up (and the cats) cool in our heat-unfriendly British home. ...so of course the cats are taking turns huddling against the hot air outflow tube like lizards on hot rocks...
Thank you Blink. A little hot water bottle of a cat tucking himself under my arm is 100% what I wanted in this weather.
I am not religious but I am begging every higher power to either give me better self control or to send fewer temptations. Otherwise, eventually, I am absolutely going to get a cool facial scar trying to kiss him between the ears.
I have been spending too much time with people who know me well and love me despite this. This has left me entirely unprepared for the volume and tone of teeth questions I was going to face in pottery class.
Spent this weekend at the Ely Eel Festival which had less eels than I would have expected.
At least a week. Maybe more. More, if I can kiss him between the ears.
I won't be taking any questions on this, but I have never wanted to place an object in my mouth more than this 10th century inkwell. www.tumblr.com/memor...
Is there any legal reason I can’t touch a fox in England? There’s not a law against it or they don’t all secretly belong to the queen or something?
Pupdate: I love him so much, I bet I could pet him. Surely nothing bad would happen. I bet I could kiss him right between the ears. I should bring him inside to live in my house. I should give him my wallet.
I am a mature and sensible person but an urban fox has taken up residence in the courtyard of our flats and every day I have to catch and stop myself from patting the free range puppy.
Found this "unusual 19th century lamp...of a supple gentleman" at an online auction and gosh, it sure is as described. www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auctio...
Please help me try and find the most haunted item in this auction. My first suggestion: this lifelike clown helium balloon cover that *definitely* does not come to life to hunt down young lovers to an 80s slasher soundtrack www.the-saleroom.com...
I'm back from Italy and am so excited to report discovering "Tex", a limitlessly unhinged Western comic that ran 1948-67 ✅ Absolutely wild character name choices ✅ Cowboys but also magic? Sure. ✅ Bigfoot ✅ Hey wtf why are there Pinkertons in this en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Last of my Istanbul cat posts. Please enjoy this improvised rain shelter for cats which someone in Sultanahmet made from a loveseat, cardboard, plastic sheeting, an umbrella and love.
Coin operated vending machines dispensing kibble for streetcats are my favourite shared infrastructure discovery this week.
