One more for good measure #WildflowerHour #ByTheSea Crambe cordifolia is STILL going strong at NWT Cley Visitor Centre overflow CP. First reported by @anaturalistabroad.bsky.social - c10 years ago (1st record for county), it's a little overwhelmed by overhanging shrubs but is hanging on in there.

These are the accounts for var galeopsifolia and subinermis through to sarmatica. I've never encountered horrida, but it doesn't sound very pleasant!
Hopefully you'll be able to read these .... this is the bit of the key for sarmatica/galeopsifolia Well worth getting Sell & Murrell if you ever see it at a good price, incidentally.
This is the old Plant Crib - so for galeopsifolia or galeopsifolia-like plants, look for leaves all long and narrow plus note flowering node
#AnglianWater @anglianwater.bsky.social very dismayed to see today that the long-term water mains leak at Reedham, Norfolk, is not only not yet fixed, but that the rate of flow appears to be increasing, all this during a hosepipe ban. We saw a juvenile moorhen paddling about in it the other day.
Early for #wildflowerhour, but I'll forget later... Berry Catchfly Silene baccifera romping away in a shady corner under the pergola and seemingly having its best year ever here. apparently, the Clematis cirrhosa makes an ideal climbing frame. #StillFlowering
#NorfolkFloraGroup visited #RSPB 's Hope Farm yesterday- thank you so much @duerden.bsky.social for showing us around and answering lots of questions. We made over 300 records, and were especially pleased to see broad-leaved spurge and slender tare, amongst many other lovely plants.
#wildflowerhour - a stay in Glen Clova isn't complete without a gruelling trek of some kind, this time to see Silene suecica, but the bog bilberry, 3-flowered rush and lesser twayblade were also very lovely :)
#wildflowerhour a trip to the Craighall/Bridge of Cally/Netherton region allowed a renewed acquaintance with dozens of Wood Fescue tussocks and around 50 spokes of bird's-nest orchid - plus an Ulmux x vegeta which appears to be uncommon in that area
#wildflowerhour sometimes travelling away from home you encounter things which are commonplace there (even invasive) and yet don't occur on your local patch. It is probably bad to be pleased to see white butterbur 🤣
#wildflowerhour another highlight was visiting Forvie NNR (a little glimpse into what Menie may've been like before it was turned into Trump International)... I was particularly keen to see the small adder's-tongue and it didn't disappoint in its teenyness. Also lovely to catch up with Jake Brendish

Made it back down again. Nearly 18km and 650m climb in what turned out to be 28 degree heat. Found the Silene looking gorgeous and well worth the effort. Have also found out that despite being 77, Lyn is a lot fitter than I am 🤣
Great day out at #ForvieNNR today with Jake Brendish (our loss was Scotland's gain). Today's highlight was memorably described as 'like a rabbit currant on a stick' and indeed it was, and I will probably never forget it!
Went all the way to t'other side of Oxford in a heatwave to find these wonderful Stachys germanica. Happy to report it was worth it, despite failing to find them at the Saltway site (these ones- maybe 10 plants in total- were on the bridleway near Minster Lovell). It doesn't appear to be doing well.

I dunno - depends if you prefer your stipules plain or frilly .... and is size important? I quite like these ones. Bit girly, maybe?
I've managed to get a bit of the flower in focus. A personal best (especially given how windy it was out there).
Gorgeous Drooping Star-of-Bethlehem Ornithogalum nutans near Colkirk, mid Norfolk yesterday. Not sure if it’s having a good year this year or had a good year last year, but I've found 3 separate populations in the last week, 2 of which had not been recorded previously, so its worth looking out for.
#wildflowerhour - an unprepossessing thicket of brown twigs in Stow Bardolph in west Norfolk on closer inspection proved to be Cornus mas or Cornelian Cherry (not a cherry, and so dissimilar you wonder how it got its common name!) plantatlas2020.org/atlas/2cd4p9... - only the 11th record for vc28.
