So much fun to celebrate the last day of school with the brilliant amazing kids and teachers at Palmer Park Prep Academy in Detroit! This is the joy we want to protect for every kid in Michigan - every day! 😎
A few months ago, Mary in Detroit told me about her dad's story. As governor, I will hold insurance companies accountable when they deny life-saving care. For Mary’s family. For all of us.
I will be a governor who stands up for people every day - making life more affordable, driving down costs, and growing our economy. With your help this November, we will build an economy that enables everyone to thrive.
I live and drive in Detroit, and I am no stranger to the rising costs. Michigan drivers were promised the last round of auto insurance reforms would lower costs and instead they went up. Auto insurance reform is going to be my priority as governor.
Our coalition is growing by the day. So proud to have earned the endorsement of UNITE HERE Local 24 and their over 8K members. They have fought for wage increases, affordable healthcare, and so much more. Glad to have them on the team to make Michigan the best place to call home.
Tonight I had the privilege of sitting down with Detroit women to hear directly what they need from their state government to build real economic prosperity and generational wealth for them and their families.
Happy Pride Month, Michigan. 🏳️🌈 As LGBTQ+ Michiganders face renewed attacks on their rights, their families, and their freedom, I’ll always stand with you. Because everyone deserves the freedom to be who they are, love who they love, and build an affordable life here in Michigan.
Michigan’s next governor has a moral responsibility to transform our public schools — for our kids, our economy, and our future. As the daughter of two public school educators who taught special education, and as a mom and a former educator myself, this is personal.
Today is Memorial Day. As a military spouse, I think of the families who didn’t get their service members back. Behind every name is a husband, a parent, a wife, and a child. Today, and always, we honor their sacrifice and carry their memory forward.
This Memorial Day — and every day — we remember and honor the women and men who gave their lives to protect and defend our country.
My statement on Mayor Duggan's departure from the governor’s race.
Time to rein in utility rate hikes, invest in clean energy, and stop letting power companies pass costs onto the people who can least afford it.
My message to gun violence advocates yesterday was clear: Our kids deserve to grow up safe at school, in their neighborhoods, and everywhere in between.
Honored to earn the endorsement of the Original Eastside Slate, one of Detroit’s most trusted political voices. Thank you for the decades of work to make Detroit and Michigan stronger. Proud to have your support in the fight for Michigan’s future.
The truth is on our side. The law is on our side. The Constitution is on our side. The people are on our side. With that in our corner, Michigan can't lose.
At the Bowen Senior Center in Pontiac, I met older Michiganders, parents, and grandparents who want our state to work for everyone.
To Orion and every Michigan family worried about their water: I’ve got your back. We won’t stop until every pipe is replaced and every tap is safe.
Educators know what’s working in our schools and what isn’t. I’m grateful for the honest conversation at last week’s Macomb roundtable with teachers, parents, education advocates, @SenPolehanki, and @ReginaforRep about what it will take to build a stronger future for every student in Michigan.
My parents were special education teachers, so spending time at Rising Stars Academy in Center Line took me back to my roots! Great to see firsthand the lives Mark and Deb Prentiss are changing - giving kids experiences and confidence to do great things.
The greatest job I’ll ever have is being Aiden’s mama. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures out there. I celebrate you all today and every day. ❤️
Team Benson is getting stronger every day! I’m proud to earn the endorsement of @MattforMichigan, a former civics and AP government teacher who has spent his career fighting to ensure Michigan kids can access a quality education and supporting working families.
Michigan must be a place where everyone belongs. This Jewish American Heritage Month, we honor that — and I’ll work every day to make it true.
Last week at WDET I talked about lowering costs, strengthening our schools, & protecting our democracy. Local news keeps our communities informed & connected, & I’m grateful for the role it plays every day here in Michigan. And of course, no visit is complete without signing the interviewee wall!
May we always have the courage to be the light in the face of darkness. #MayThe4th
20% of the world’s fresh water is ours to protect — and celebrate — right here in Michigan. Beat that, Ohio. #GreatLakesAwarenessDay
On May Day, we’re reminded that dignity at work is always worth fighting for. This week in Dearborn, I was proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Teamster nurses on the picket line as they demanded what every worker deserves: fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect on the job.
The fight for “one person, one vote” isn’t over, and in Michigan we’re not backing down.
Great to be with Senator Darrin Camilleri and so many engaged people at Kekoa Brew Co. today! It's fitting that “Kekoa” means "The Warrior" — the grit and dedication of folks Downriver to fight for their community is strong 💪
