But what can I do? What can you do, as a reader? We can't do anything separately. But we might be able to change the reason we train scientists and researchers, Al or otherwise. And here, now, I am talking to my fellow educators, for I am at heart a teacher. My mother was a teacher. My sister was a teacher. Education should not be primarily about job training. Education should be about molding students for civic responsibility. We cannot turn our students over to AI machines for their learning. They should not be learning "prompting" as a replacement for writing or image generation. They'll do enough
"prompting" in a job. Instead, they should be learning to interact with people through writing and other modes.
We need to remember that education is about learning to be among other people, with other people. And that's how I'll hope you remember this book: there are people at the heart of AI. I hope the experts in this book have provided you with such perspectives.
