Time and again I see solar farms viewed as a burden as opposed to an asset that someone else pays for, quietly sits there, and hands you (or at least your municipality) money.

Legally REQUIRED to procure 1 AP1000 worth of nuclear generation. New Jersey currently has 3,450MW of capacity, so this is a 32% increase. Without demand growth, this would displace about 30% of the gas generation. Biggest problem is how long it will take to build.

Was curious how much solar Hawaii would need to clean their grid. It would only take about 20,000 acres of solar (with batteries) to force that oil wedge into a back-up only position. Land is super tight on Hawaii, so offshore wind wouldn't hurt. The Big Island may be able to expand geothermal,too

In 2025, globally, Nuclear, Solar, and Wind, contributed about equally to Team Carbon Free. Global nuclear capacity may grow 44% in the next decade. Meanwhile, we will really need wind and solar to do at least +400%.

Mass. Is solar-dominated (for now) and has huge seasonal peaks. Maine is roughly even (highest month 323 solar 356 wind), March 2025-March 2026 looks pretty level in comparison.
