I’ve noticed a worrying trend recently - increased political polarisation has set us back in conversations about mental illness: increased stigma, misunderstanding & harmful stereotyping. “Othering” benefits those seeking to profit from division, fear & suspicion. Togetherness sets us free (5/7)

I experienced psychotic hallucinations when I was sectioned. I’ve tried to unalive myself. I’m very glad I wasn’t successful in those attempts - life didn’t get better but it got different. Recovery isn’t linear, Like every human, I aim to improve, learn & grow, mess up and then grow again. (4/7)

I was born with EDS - a physical condition of hypermobility. Research suggests this is linked to developing depression & anxiety. My struggle then led to coping with other behaviours that became secondary and tertiary mental illnesses like OCD, anorexia, binge eating disorder, bulimia. (3/7)

I was essentially expelled from private school (“uninvited to return” after my 1st voluntary hospitalisation despite straight A grades & good behaviour aside from the mental illness) In therapy since age 14, 15 mental illness diagnoses (common for people like me with CPTSD) & now AuDHD (2/7)
