Went to see the glorious Thespians: Greece The Musical (but not that one) yesterday! It's the latest from Mischief Comedy and it's amazing!! Great songs, lovely story, absolutely hilarious, queer rep, dad jokes galore, a cut out that looked exactly like Alex Winter in a toga 😆 loved it!!
I forgot to say! You're now on the table in the new SFF releases bit at Leeds Waterstones!
Huge thank you to everyone who came to Storytelling: Order Out of Chaos! Chaos was definitely the theme of the night from distracting doggos, Thomas D. Lee not understanding people saying their characters misbehave until he met Merlin & Sarah Rees Brennan revealing she longs for the Misery cage!
Lovely meet up with the local BFS crew today and a delightful little book haul!!
They're so pretty. Also The Midnight Bargain is absolutely incredible!!
A few examples - important to think about what will be in front of it/blocking it. Don't put important stuff on the bottom if it'll be hidden by a table
There was a recent CQC/Ofsted review of SEND services in Leeds The report is damning in almost every section, but especially with regards to ND diagnosis
Henson dog voiced by Sean Astin! And perhaps most important of all: the Spoon Of Unusual Power!!
I got pretty close to having tea with him at the Labyrinth convention! He's adorable Also behold my goblinfly and baby troll!!
50 - The Knight Watch by Thomas D Lee This book is amazing!! Queer knights of the round table killing nazis, what more do you need? It's also got Isolde absolutely fed up with Tristan's nonsense, a nod or two to the Sword in the Stone and Agravain being a whole other level of aggravating!
49 - The Deep and the Drowned by Ian Green This book is so good! I want to both shake some sense into Killian and also stop him running directly into trouble at every opportunity! Immaculate found family vibes, glorious swashbuckling & folk who make being morally grey into an art form!
48 - Mortedant's Peril by RJ Barker This was fun. Irody is a complete arse and does not in any way deserve the companions he has thrust upon him whilst trying to avoid being executed for murder. But it's very entertaining watching him trying to deal with it all!
We have a fucking giant dalek looming over the city! And it has literally killed someone!
This is the type we have, very small, opens outward, set higher up from the floor than the exhaust pipe is long. It's far too small for the fabric fitting without significant alterations and even then it'll be a bodge job with a bad seal We are literally not built for this!
This was the extra, significantly lower quality fabric fitting that also came with it. Again, very few houses in the UK have that type of window. And that fabric is 3m long
To demonstrate, this is the window fitting for the exhaust pipe that came with our unit. Very few houses in the UK have that type of window
RJ Barker is an award-winning author of fantasy fiction, writing assassins, ships made of bones & skyscraper-sized forests! Mortedant's Peril, follows Irody, who can read the dead's final thought & is very good at it. Until he's arrested for murder & given 3 days to clear his name or be executed
Sarah Rees Brennan is a best-selling, award-winning author, born & raised in Ireland. All Hail Chaos continues Rae's story - a fantasy reader thrust into her favourite fictional world & made (enthusiastically) to play the villain She tried to fix the Emperor, she just made him worse.
Ruth Frances Long is an award-winning author whose writing often strays into weird and wonderful liminal places. The Lore of Silver is a thrilling magical heist fantasy: Lyta, a thief blessed by a trickster god, tries her best to stay out of trouble. Until her brother asks her to find stolen relics
Dr. Thomas D. Lee is a bestselling author of fantastical historical fiction The Knight Watch follows Arthur & the knights of the round table, roused to protect Britain in its time of need -this time it's WW2 & Isolde, fed up with her tragic reputation, gets the old band back together to fight nazis!
With only a couple of weeks until the storytelling panel, it's time to get to know our lovely authors and their personal brand of chaos! @thomasdlee.bsky.social @rflong.bsky.social @sarahreesbrennan.bsky.social @rjbarker.bsky.social
Can Calliope please have a word with Bowie. Bowie is catting incorrectly. She seems to think by sharing her body heat with me it'll cool her down...
Reading this entirely changed the way I viewed losing my 16 year career in finance. I didn't fail, I became disabled after a very successful more than a decade in a field I enjoyed, including becoming a fully qualified chartered accountant.
47 The Shape of Monsters by CL Hellisen Creepy, tense, heart-breaking, full to the brim with monsters of every definition! It shines a light on the monstrosity present in humanity and sinks its claws deep into your skin. Delicious!
46 The Fox and the Devil by Kiersten White Sapphic vampires, Van Helsing's daughter doing a significantly better job of everything than he ever did, everyone is queer!!! I love this so much!!!
