I wasn’t lying.

A man stops his moonlight walk next to the wonder that is the LA river. The power lines head toward Glendale as the small trickle of water flows toward an uncertain fate. Three skunks gather just out of the camera’s keen eye. All three skunks agree with the photographer that online movie discourse died in 2014. Though the air is cold and thick, the photographer has found peace.

Val Kilmer stands strong and tall as a character slowing dying of an illness he could not stop. Dressed in the finery of this bygone Western age, he smiles serenely behind a thin mustache. Red cloth bursts out of the darker tones of his vest and jacket. It’s his heart on full display. Two handles of his revolvers can be seen — the violent tools of his tortured artistic soul. Doc Holliday as played by Val Kilmer didn’t stay up because he wanted to… he stood up to be there for his friend. Rest well, Val.

True Scientific Fact Once you hear the opening riff from Toto's Africa you are doomed to hum it to yourself for at least the next 30 days sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti.

In a shot from the 1982 official video for Toto's hit "Africa", Dave Paich -- wearing a shirt with a vague explorer vibe that was definitely not viewed as problematic during the video's shoot -- stares deep into your eyes with a sly smile that indicates he knows that he has you. You will never be able to avoid singing along to this song for the rest of your life. Even if you're not a Toto fan or hate Yacht Rock, you're trapped. You'll never forget one word of this masterpiece. You will spend the rest of your days blessing the rains down in Africa.
