What's your fave way to share your commission? “I just kind of post them everywhere that makes sense so other folks can see what I’ve created. Sharing commissions is also a good way to have extra art to share throughout the year.”

Tell us about you. Name: J. Niche: Illustrator/Comic Artist. Pronouns: They/Them. “I love historical fiction and fashion, and am a bit vampire-obsessed. I’m co-creator for a webcomic called The Arrangement, a historical drama about two vampires in 1920s New York.”

One piece of advice. “Start small. It’s really easy to try and do everything at once. I’m often guilty of this, but it’s best to break a goal or big project into something more manageable.”

How can I build an audience? “Don’t be scared to let people know what you’re doing. Word of mouth can be incredibly helpful. Let people know what your projects are. Share your work, your links, and how they can get involved.”

One piece of advice. “Find a way to keep the fun in your process. We can't always rely on motivation, but we can find ways to make things smoother and more enjoyable for ourselves.”

How can I engage my audience "See if you can find a part of what you do that they can get involved with. This could be as simple as asking for input on creative decisions, or asking if they have questions about your process.”
