Cultural narratives are not an optional extra.  Reflecting on the legacy of Riky Rick, I shared that our messages must speak not only to the head, but also to the heart, the body, and the soul. Lasting change happens when people not only understand a message but also feel it deeply.

Moving from ambition to execution. 🌍 During London Climate Action Week, I joined @creatives4climate.bsky.social  and Futerra House at Solutions House for the launch of the world’s first UNFCCC-backed Plan to Accelerate Solutions on narratives for climate action.

At a time when the climate emergency & failures of our global system exist, the call to democratise international relations is more urgent. Article 109 offers a pathway to renew the UN to fit the realities of this century and make it accountable to the people and planet it was created to serve.

On Africa Youth Day, we honour the courage, creativity, and power of young people across our continent. May we listen more deeply, open more doors, share more power, and stand with young people as they fight for climate justice, dignity, democracy, jobs, peace, and a future worthy of their dreams.

I am looking forward to joining Global Artivism and International Teaching Artist Collaborative (ITAC) for this important conversation on how artists, educators, cultural practitioners, and activists can work together to build a more just, sustainable, and connected world.

We will never forget your sacrifices, dearest Lenny. We remember your laugh, your courage, your ahead-of-your-time vegetarianism, and so much more. Your life was stolen too soon, but your spirit continues to challenge us. Sad that this spirit is absent from much of today’s leadership.

On Africa Day, I am reminded that Africa is more than a place on the map. Africa is spirit, memory, struggle, and promise. Today, let us celebrate Africa with renewed commitment to unity, dignity, justice, peace, democracy, and a future where our people and our planet can truly thrive.

A beautiful way to spend time in Durban this weekend at the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk with Louisa, my sister Karmini Naidoo, and my brother-in-law Navin Mohabir. Walking Durban’s beachfront with thousands of people, ocean air, sunshine, and that unmistakable energy was good for the soul.

On this Earth Day, I’m reminded that hope is not something we wait for—it is something we build. Our power lies in people. Our planet depends on it. Every voice, every action, every movement matters. The small acts, the bold stands, the quiet persistence, all add up.

It was a powerful reminder that policy alone won’t get us to the future we need—we must also shift hearts, minds, and imagination . When artists, activists, and movement builders come together, we don’t just talk about change—we begin to make it possible.
